Okay..this is really gross and embarassing...worse than the sh*tface one!

The enulose seems to have kicked in full force today. Well, on our fifth diaper, (you'd think mom would have learned by now) I pick him up and carry him into the nursery without checking for leakage. I lie Zac down on the changing table and go to give him his paci as he was a bit irritated (his paci is permanantly attatched to his bibs w/a little paci clip). <SIGH> well...as the tip of the paci touches his lips I see what APPEARS to be "upchucked" dinner remains on it...but...ITS NOT!!!! IT IS POOP!!! I about died died died died five times over. Here he is licking his own crap off his lips and making the strangest face while mom is scurrying to grab a baby whipe. Mortified...I shove the whipe into his mouth and rub it all across his lips and tongue (Zac was loving this, right?) What happened was he had leaked out the groin area and his paci had been kindof shoved inbetween there aswell...it was sooooooooooooo disgusting and just plain gross!! I called the ped as I was frantic. She laughed at me and said "Any bacteria that comes out of Zac, has already been through there anyway, if it were someone ELSE'S poop (GROSS) she'd be concerned" but this was nothing to worry about. JUST DISGUSTING if you ask me. <SIGH> I felt so horrible that I didn't realize that....ick ick ick ick. What next?!

No doubt as they get abit older and can grab their nappy, they will "mess with mess" anyway. Hmmmm, reminds me of my girlfriend's little girl who smeared sh*t all over the carpet.........

Wow...Enulose is working for you! That's great. :D

How many times is he pooping a day, now? Our prescription bottle of Enulose said that more than 3 poops a day = call the doctor b/c the dose can be lowered a bit so they're only pooping 1-2 times a day. If they're pooping too much, it interferes with absorption of nutrients. That's what our pharmacist said.

Just letting you know...(you probably already know)...I worry too much!

Thanks for that info, Amanda, I did not know, actually! I think he's pooping twice a day now. They just said to "play with the dose" between 1 and 3 tsp. I upped it to 2 3/4 so i'll go down to 2 tomorrow.
What was that again about the consistency, amanda? You said something about applesauce, pea soup, etc...thanks!

I am sooooo happy that he's pooping. :D We've been there with the constipation thing...and it's not fun! :?

Our ped GI said, if it looks like:

Pea Soup = too runny, lower dose of medicine a bit, (ie. Enulose/Milk of Magnesia)
Applesauce = Perfect consistency
Mashed Potatoes = Perfect consistency
Meat Loaf, (or firm) = too firm, increase dose of medicine a bit

The GI said that he figured this easy way to remember because he was visiting his mother-in-law at the nursing home, and stayed for dinner at their cafeteria. The menu was pea soup, applesauce, mashed potatoes, and meat loaf.

He realized, as he was eating, that these foods represented the perfect way to describe to his patients' parents what poop should and should not look like.

He said, though, that he immediately lost his appetitie.

Apparently, when you are a doctor of digestive issues, you think about sh*t all day!

Must be great to have that GI over for dinner, eh? :smt104

Terrific that Zac is pooping! Horray for applesauce and mashed taters!

Icky on the pacifier thingy, but I would have told you not to worry either. I could tell you about a statistic that I read a long time ago about what we put in our mouths and how it is related to handwashing, but I won't....

Hey Saar... sounds like you need a "whoopsie guard" on the carseat (you know, a lovely looking insert that is fully waterproof).

Yeah, totally cool he is pooping but I'm sure you could do without all the mess!!!

Dare I mention that my girlfriend had cream carpet?????? VERY bad choice for little children.. don't look at the raspberry stains she says when you go inot the lounge!!! (And I don't dare mention the rug in the bedroom covering the brown bits)!!!
