Hi all--as most of you know, yesterday was a red letter day in this house because Bethany finally ate a bird's weight in baby food! *lol* She didn't eat as well today; however, I'm still floating around on yesterday's high.

On to my question...we are still giving suppositories daily b/c she won't stool on her own. Today, it took 2.5 hours for the supp. to work, then she had 4 diarrhea diapers over the course of the rest of the day. There was, literally, no substance--just some dark green flotsam here and there and the watery rest was soaked into the diaper. One of the diapers was VERY mucous-y. Not to be gross, but it looked as if someone had blown their nose in it. No poop, just watery goo and mucous. She has also developed a bright red diaper rash around her anus, despite the cream I always apply.

Is this normal once kids start eating? Could she be coming down with something?

Does her little butt look like a bulls eye? Like with the red ring right around her anus? THat along with the mucous, I can almost GUARANTEE you are dealing with an allergy of some sort. The bulls eye rash, and the mucous are both top signs of an allergy. We have dealt with both, and thats what clued us in to Alexys allergy to milk before she started getting hives from it. An allergy can also be causing the constipation. What exactly has she eaten over the past few days?

Hmmmm.. I would agree with Amy on this one. What did she eat solids wise?

Definitely an allergy, Mary. Did you give Bethany something new?

Hmmm...nothing new; however, she did eat a LOT of yogurt. I'd say that she had 6 oz of yogurt that day. In the past, she's only gotten a bite here and there, so I wonder if this is a milk issue.

Oh, and btw--the rash is a small, red circle around the anus. :o

She didn't eat much yesterday, and had no dairy. This am, the rash is gone and she had a sticky, more normal (for her) stool.

Thanks so much for the info--now I don't feel stupid for calling the GI again today!

Hiya Mary....
Don't feel silly for ringing the GI... that's what they are there for. Hmmm, 6oz of yoghurt may have been a bit too much dairy for the wee lass.
How's she doing today??
BTW_ HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETHANY!!!

Sarah--Thanks! Bethany's party starts at noon, so I'm taking a breather to write. I put in the update forum that the GI does feel she has a dairy sensitivity. We're giving up all dairy for a week or so to see how things go.

Thanks again for the advice!
