View Full Version : The TRUE meaning of "sh*tface"!!!!!
ZacsMom 11-06-2005, 02:01 PM OH LORD LADIES this is nasty....but hilarious.
Okay so we all know Zac's been going through this constipation battle for months and he was recently put on mineral oil...well let me tell you, it sure does the trick...to say the least:
Okay so Zac was in his "Fisher Price Rocking Chair" (that we all know so well) watching Baby Noah on tv. I thought I heard him taking a dump so I let him be. Well I had kindof gotten side-tracked and about ten minutes later I went to get him up out of his chair and as I'm lifting him, I'm realizing I thought he had been pooping. So I go to do the mommy sniff test and sniff the side of his diaper (WITHOUT LOOKING FIRST) and I got a FACE FULL OF SH*T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was so histarical I couldn't help but laugh, as disgusting as it was! So here he was with poop EVERYWHERE out the side of his diaper, all over his rocking chair, lumping down onto the area rug as I was hanging him by his armpits 2 feet away from me screaming to DH "look at me! look at me!" He proceeded to look at the floor, the rocking chair, everywhere but MY FACE and finally worked up to my face and just said "GROSS!!!" I had poop alllllllll over my chin...just like a beard!!! ROTF it was so funny, I was just so happy he had pooped that I could have cared less. DEFINITELY a story that I won't forget. This was Halloween night and thankfully he had already gone trickortreating and it was bath time ...for ME AND HIM! I can't believe it took me this long to post this! :smt005
By the way we NEED to find a poop emoticon!
OwensMom 11-06-2005, 02:34 PM Oh Sara, that is so funny. Where was the camera for that one, could've made a fortune on America's funniest home videos  .
Lol, I'm glad he is doing better with the pooping.
Leigh 11-06-2005, 03:06 PM What a proud moment, indeed! :P That is one story to share with Zac for sure when the girlfriend is around (especially if you do not like her)
Great reaction, Sara. Too often we concentrate on how truly gross it is and not how silly it was for us to do the "sniff" test to begin with! We catch ourselves sometimes getting a finger full when we pull the diaper back to take a peek. Yuck. Like we did not know to begin with where the smell was coming from....
sarahh 11-06-2005, 03:29 PM ROFL!!!!!! I was thinking maybe Zac had got his hands in it........ hmmmm that won't be too far away!!
Oh I'm so pleased his poop is better... and hope it didn't smell too much when it was stuck to your chin!!!!
ZacsMom 11-06-2005, 04:15 PM OOOH it was histarical and STINKY! ANyhow his poops "were" better, but since we stopped the mineral oil and started enulose yesterday...nothing. I'm hearing some grunting today and no products in the diapers so that's not a good sign. I gave him an extra tsp. of the enulose since doc said between 1 and 3 and I had only given him a bit more than a tsp and a half at first. We're still waiting. Yeah I thought about taking a picture but coudln't stand the smell and hot mush all over my face for that long! LOL.
Leigh 11-06-2005, 04:25 PM Well then DO IT AGAIN and have the DH snap the picture!
I am a bit worried about the enulose not working yet as we are waiting for our lactulose to be filled at the pharmacy and I have not done much mineral oil in the meantime... Let me know how it goes (literally) :P
ZacsMom 11-06-2005, 04:39 PM You mean curran's on enulose too, and it's not workign? or the fact that zac's had nothing in a day on it? :?
And I'm sure there'll be pleanty of other photo ops. in the future
Leigh 11-06-2005, 06:15 PM I just returned from the pharmacy ($105.00 lighter :? ) with Iain's nutren jr and Curran's lactulose. I have heard that lactulose and enulose are similar, so I was wondering how it was working for Zac. Curran just had his first dose tonight. Man, it is very sweet! I asked the pharmacist if he would need to be peeled off the walls with all the sugar and he said no, it is just to change the ph in the intestines. We shall see.
Curran is on one tablespoon after a meal two times daily, so 2 tablespoons. If that does not work we go to 2 and 2, then 3 and 3, and so forth. Yick. Same darn thing we went through with mineral oil. He was up to 8 tablespoons a day for 8 days until he got pneumonia in March. I cannot even fathom someone getting 8 tablespoons and not having things rocket right on out again on the oil slick that must have been his digestive system.
ZacsMom 11-06-2005, 06:43 PM I cannot even fathom someone getting 8 tablespoons and not having things rocket right on out again on the oil slick that must have been his digestive system.
YOWZERS! Sounds like an awful lot. As a matter of fact, I think that was the dosage for adults and elderly on the back of the mineral oil bottle.
Leigh 11-06-2005, 07:22 PM Yeah, it took me by surprise that essentially 64 tablespoons did not move a thing. The best thing about it is that the GI said to wait another 5 days... but we ended up with pneumonia instead.
I really wish that this GI would test Curran or treat him more aggressively for GERD as this is not working at all.
By the way, we had a HUGE meltdown just now with Curran, like he had a reaction to something. I will have to take a closer look at what is in this stuff or see if he has this reaction again with the sugar from the lactulose. He makes absolutely no sense when this happens and it is so hard to deal with.
EmmasMommy 11-06-2005, 07:28 PM That is a hilarious story, Sara....

Uh oh...dare I ask what happened?
Leigh 11-06-2005, 07:50 PM Well, it started within about 15 minutes of giving the stuff. He got "busy". Considering it was our quiet time in prep for bed, it was crazy to see him buzzing around like he was ADHD or something. Then he started to get loud. Really loud, so much more than usual. Then jumping. Then I called him to get his pjs on and to settle down and I got an ear full. Lots of screaming, throwing his clothes, just pure rage and lots of nonsense talk. Curran is my guy with great communication skills so it is not like him to be nonsensical. The screaming continued right on up the stairs and flopping on the floor, screaming, yelling, shrieking, trashing (or attempted trashing) of the bed, throwing of his prized toys, and did I mention screaming? When I give him a 3 count he stops. Not tonight, he did not even hear me. He was frantic, flustered, enraged, and when I left him alone for about 5 minutes and went back he was sobbing because he was so scared. Uh, that is not him. I snuggled him and got him to settle down, but his heart was just racing, he was sweating up a storm, and he was in quite a lather overall.
I am going to check on him again. We have had some wee sugar issues in the past, but usually involving ice cream.
ZacsMom 11-06-2005, 07:53 PM "wee" sugar issues??? UHHHH ya think? LOL!!! Oh my goodness, what a workout for both of you I'm sure. Poor kiddo!
Leigh 11-06-2005, 08:23 PM He is still sweating up a storm and his heart is trotting along, but he is asleep now. It is just like some reactions we have seen before, but I can not put my finger on it. We have been told it is a toddler behaviour. Uh, huh. I do not think so. I know this kid has intolerances, just have to figure them all out.
Milk is a big one I think. He has a very low RAST for milk, so we give it to him in low doses via bread, cookies, etc. and he drinks a soy beverage for his main calcium source.
From what I can see so far, lactulose has lactose and galactose in it. Not so sure yet what all this means. If I get the same reaction tomorrow I should have my answer, though.
ZacsMom 11-07-2005, 07:29 AM sheesh...good luck with that.
LaurensMommy 11-07-2005, 08:03 AM You gave me a good laugh.. great way to start the morning. I could see that happening to me as I never really look before sniffing either. Isn't it funny though that as you become a mother, the sniffing of the diaper just happens. Is it born into us???
sarahh 11-07-2005, 03:36 PM Oh Leigh... poor Curran ((HUGS))) One has got to guess the only thing new introduced was the lactulose huh???
Good luck for tomorrow then
My hubby will not "smell" the nappy... he will say that "someone is high or ripe"  and with the 2 of them sitting side by side you have to figure out which one it is. That man uses about 10 wipes, when 3 or so would do. He has this thing about not getting sh*t on his hands!!! ROFL!!!!! (Irritating about the wipes though- we go through so many more than we need to but then again, al least he's changing them!!)
Leigh 11-07-2005, 06:01 PM Curran had two poops today. They were not very big, but at least he had them. As he is still chowing I shall give him the lactulose in a bit... wish me luck! (in case of a repeat reaction, I did not ask them to give it at daycare as I did not wish the phone call to come and pick up "Seyton"!)
The joy of having three kids is that the older ones are the one who tell you that their brother smells REALLY BAD! It is so funny at times, but they have been known to shout it out in a crowded mall. Our older two look at us like we are nuts if we sniff the diaper or do the pull test to see if there is a possible containment breech. Maybe parents do lose that common sense....
