View Full Version : Waking up way too early!
ZacsMom 11-05-2005, 07:17 PM Okay...so i finally have zac going down with no issues every night between 730 and 745...however, the problem is he's waking between 515 and 545 every morning and he wont go back down as he always has in the past!!! I know its a good ten hours sleep but even if I make him wait an extra hour to go to sleep he STILL wakes up, as a matter of fact, last night he went down and hour later and was up a half hour earlier than normal!! I'm praying that it is the time change. I've heard that you shoudl put your child to bed EARLIER if they wake up too early but I can't imagine trying to put him to bed earlier than 730!! As a matter of fact I NEVER thought I'd see the day he went down that early as it is!! (I feel a bit guilty complaining about this as I knwo a lot of you are going through much worse sleep issues, but for me it's an issue nonetheless)...any suggestions??
Oh...and since he's been doing this is is napping SO much better than he ever has...but I really think I'd rather him sleep in another hour or so and take his cat naps than get up at 530 in the frickin morning!@
AlexysandAaronsMom 11-05-2005, 08:03 PM Oh how I wish I knew what to tell you on this one, but we are going through the EXACT same thing now. And btw, I tried to do the put her down earlier thing....she now goes to bed at 7 and she still gets up at 5am. I tried later, I tried everything....even cutting down on naps during the day which REALLY didnt work. The only good thing is she goes back to bed about 2 hrs after she gets up, but it still stinks. I will be watching this thread with you!!!
ZacsMom 11-05-2005, 08:08 PM Amy,
Did this just start with you with the time change also??? It bites the big one that's for sure because he goes down at nine for almost two hours but by that time i'm wide awake and have things to do!!!!
AlexysandAaronsMom 11-05-2005, 08:21 PM no it happened about 2 months ago, which is right around the same age as zac is now.... wierd....i know, its great they go back down but by that time i am already up too for the day. I wish I knew how to fix this one for us both, 5am is just TOO early.
EmmasMommy 11-05-2005, 08:22 PM I feel a bit guilty complaining about this as I knwo a lot of you are going through much worse sleep issues, but for me it's an issue nonetheless
Thanks for rubbing it in!
Just kidding.....
Actually, Emma's doing the same thing...waking up around 5:45, but if I give her the pacifier she goes back to sleep for another hour or so....This morning she found her pacifier and went back to sleep until 7:45. I think it is the time-change.
But, Emma also woke at 12:30 and 3:30. I fed her at 3:30..she only had 15 oz. yesterday..... :(
ZacsMom 11-05-2005, 08:23 PM sheesh! No, zac has always been getting up around that time but he'd nurse and go back down for an hour or so...now he's not going back...<sigh>
sixdogssixcats 11-05-2005, 08:24 PM Ha! There were FOUR empty bottles lined up under Catherine's FP chair this morning. 10:00pm, 12:30am, 2:30, 5:00.
EmmasMommy 11-05-2005, 08:25 PM You got me beat again Lesley...no fair!
sixdogssixcats 11-05-2005, 08:35 PM I'm hoping for a less active night tonight since Catherine did eat all that yogurt. She usually won't touch any solids at "dinner." Her last solids of the day are at lunch (noon-ish) if she eats then.

The d*mn time change has really screwed us up, also. Noah wakes around 4ish, and the only way I can get him to sleep again is on top of me on the couch, which is no fun. Noah is also going down in the crib fine initially, but then its all over after that first wake. I'll be anxious to see what others think.
OwensMom 11-06-2005, 04:21 AM Secretly I think all our little ones came together and talked about getting up that early :? . Owen does the same thing at around 5-5:30, he will not go back to sleep. No chance of going back to bed later either since Jonathan than has to get ready for school.
Summer2 11-06-2005, 08:25 AM ok, you're all going to hate me but the time change actually seemed to have helped us and Sam is no longer getting up at 5am like he used to. But when he did do that, I would put him in the swing and lay on the couch and he was good for at least another two hours usually. Maybe this will help some of you....

I actually tried that recently but didn't really work. Zac is alot older than Sammy and is not as content in the swing for so long as he use to LIVE in the thing between 2 months and 4 months. He's not so into it anymore, only for short periods of time. Thanks though!
