Joshua, our 3 month old, has been on Prevacid Solutabs (15mg) for about 3 weeks now. He also gets 2oz a day of apple/prune juice to help with constipation. I'm wondering if the extra sugar might be keeping him up?
Before all of this, he was doing well with sleeping at night, often with 5-6 hour stretches! For the past few nights, he has not been sleeping much - only 45 min to 1 hour at a time. Dad and I are suffering a lot!
He is most comfortable in his bouncy chair so we do that, with him in his own room. He starts out swaddled but always seems to get loose. We also have a white noise machine running.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any advice?

Hi there..
I am so very sorry... sleep deprivation is a wicked thing. When the twins were little I used to get by with 45mins sleep in between feedings (reflux gave us feedings that lasted 2 hours  ). It is horrible... but you do survive, and you do get through it. The boys are 9 months and I am still up at least twice a night between the 2 of them.
I'm not sure about the connection of the meds and sleep disruption. I wouldn't think that the small amounts of applesauce/prune juice you are giving would give Joshua a "sugar rush". I guess you have to think carefully back to establish what changed when his sleep became disturbed.
I remember the days of swaddling the boys, putting them in their carseats and putting the carseats in their cots... it does pass!!
Hoping that someone can come and be of more help to you than I have!!

We had to take our son off prevacid because it gave him a lot of pain due to gas... that could be the problem with you guys too.

It could be the juice , or the prevacid. Alexys cant handle anything with apples in it, it makes her absolutely and truly miserable...and also keeps her up from the belly pain it gives her. We had to stop using the prevacid too due to gas and constipation issues. Could you try switching to prilosec, or maybe try switching juice?

Yes, good idea, because we didn't have that problem with prilosec, just prevacid...

Interesting idea - I've been using Apple Prune juice b/c it's the only thing I can find! No one seems to make just plain Prune juice for babies.
Actually, the past 2 nights have been really good so maybe it was just a phase? Let's keep hoping.
Thanks everyone!

Look at your grocery store for 100 percent prune juice....and just water it down. It doesnt matter if it isnt for babies as long as it doesnt have added sugar etc. I hope the good nights continue!!!!!!!!
