Catherine has been sick and vomiting since Saturday evening. Yesterday (Sunday), she had very little in the way of solids, maybe 18oz of formula, some water and some pedialyte. She also vomited most of that. Since 9:00pm last night, she's only had Pedialyte. Maybe a little less than 1/3 of a liter so far (it's now 9:06am). She did vomit during the night but hasn't this morning. How can a child who's been on only fluids for 12 hours be pooping rabbit pellets????

I DON'T KNOW! Eric managed to that too. The only thing I could come up with is that his intake was low (his body was using just about everything that went in) therefore not as much pooh, so he didn't get the urge to push any out. It stayed in there too long and got hard.

Who knows, but it sucks when they aren't feeling well and pushing pellets too. I wish there was a way to just "fix" it. I mean what an awful way to start life.

I hope things start looking up for Catherine soon

I think it's Prevacid. Emma has had major issues with firm stools since starting it in June...no matter what we give her....prunes, green vegies, pears, juice, extra water, Enulose. Constipation is the #1 side effect, besides headaches, in children.

Blast those meds! :?

Actually listed as side effects for prevacid are diarrhea, headaches, and abdominal pain. Diarrhea is the number one side effect. Constipation is supposed to be a rare side effect....but I have heard of it happening to a lot of kids that are on it.

You're right Amy...diarrhea is the main side effect for adults. But, on the Prevacid website, for Pediatric GERD, it states that constipation and headaches are the main side effect for kids. I guess adults don't experience it the same way. Here's the link:

Hmmm sorry about that  ...even my GI told me that diarrhea was the most common side effect in kids....wierd that it affects kiddos different than adults, but not surprising really. Thanks for the link!!!

I just assumed since the GI said diarrhea...and thats what we experienced from the prevacid...I should know better than to take a dr's word on anything anymore

(((HUGS))) Poor Catherine.. how is she doing now??
I think the rabbit poop thing is often when they are getting rid of the solids that are in the system but haven't had much fluid. Matthew comes and goes with his rabbit poop. ugh.
