Hi ladies.
Okay, I know nothing about sensory issues, so I just thought I would run this by you. Whenever Nathan touches something with a slimy texture, he gags, almost to the point of vomiting. It happens especially with bananas, jello, or avocado, and he doesn't even have to get it in the mouth to gag - just touching is enough. He does fine with other textures (water, grass, sand, etc).

Anyone else know anything about this?

Yes Sheila, it certainly sounds like Nathan has texture issues. My guess is that it's a sensory issue, but if you don't notice other sensory things, I wouldn't be too concerned. Would it help him to water down the slimy foods a bit? If not, I wouldn't push them too much for now. It's possible that if you re-introduce them sometime later he'll do fine.

Haha! Nathan, my magical GERDling...

Thanks, Janette, for the info. I guess I will just watch and see how he does in the next few months...

hehe...sorry about the sarcasm, I just really am not knowledgable in the "sensory" issue department.

I am about halfway through "The Out of Sync Child" that deals with sensory issues, and it could very well be he has a problem. In fact, I would say he does.

Give me a chance to read faster and get back to you!

P.S. I have no question now that Curran for sure is suffering big time from sensory intergration and I see some for Iain, too.

I finally went out and bought it this week, but haven't had a chance to read any of it yet...And now that I have some time, I'm busy catching up around here...
