We are going to purchase a pump and just want some input into what pumps you guys like. We are currently renting a kangaroo pet portable pump and I like it, but not sure it I should be looking at others. Any input????

We have a zevex enteralite and are quite happy with it.

Check out this thread for a little info and a photo:

We have the kangaroo pet pump and it used to give me fits, but I've pretty much figured it out now. It's pretty much error-free when I've got it on the IV pole, though I rarely use it as a portable pump since Daniel is fine with bolus feeds. Just out of curiousity, how much do these things cost?

I have seen them on e-bay for about $500, but new you can pay over $1000. We have a 50% co-pay with our insurance so the rental is costing us like $35 a month--I think we are going to be using it for awhile so we are going to buy one. The bags are what cost the most, our share is $150 a month thru the home health company. We have been getting them on e-bay for about $40 for a month supply. This disease can get very costly!

Our biggest expense is the formula since insurance won't cover any of it. I guess that otherwise we must have decent coverage.

We have the kangaroo pet pump for Justin. He does well with it because he is bigger. I dont think that this is the best pump for a younger child. The one you are looking at is great and I know many people that use it and love it with small children.

Becky I was wondering if you could apply for medical assistance. We had to apply for it due to the cost of the formula and essentials that went a long with the pump because our insurance wouldnt cover it. In PA they have programs for people with medical needs that need help that insurance wont cover. It may be worth looking into. I wish you luck.
