I am having such a hard time dealing with Noah's reflux, I find myself so angry. It's not fair that he's 6 years old and refluxing worse then when he was little. Is there any light at the end of all of this for these older kids ?

Hi Katy,

There are so many days, I am crying right along with you.

There have been situations, that I also think....'life just is not fair'. But I don't think there is anything we can do about that. So I guess I always try to remain positive and accept that it is happening for a reason. We may never know that reason but what other choice do we have than to try to remain positive.

My thoughts are with you both.

Katy,
I am so sorry to hear that Noah is not doing so well and wish I had the answers that you needed to hear. I do understand your fustration and anger because I have so many days like that. I have found it so much harder to deal the older they get.

I do hope that things improve for you. I will continue to keep Noah in my prayers and thoughts.

I am so sorry, Katy.:smt056

As I was at my ped's office complaining for the umpeenth time over some illness Curran had contracted my ped actually started to say that luckily GERD is something they outgrow by the age of one as I stood there with my 4 year old (and she treats my nearly 2 year old who is hit even worse by it all). She stopped herself and said at least my oldest seems better. Indeed. I do not know what I would do if my 6 year old was having these problems nor what I would do if they were as serious as you have to deal with.

I count my blessings that we do not have the same issues that Noah does and pray that one day we will all be chatting about the GERD days in the past tense. Nothing about GERD is fair, but Noah deserves the break.

Noah is in our prayers tonight for sure.

I think if I every heard this again I'd slap the person saying it. I was told this, then it was 2 then it was 3 then it was 4.

Dr's should be smarter than this!

HUGs I know what youre going thru and Im sorry for it HUGs

Hello Noah's mommy. I am so sorry to hear how upset you are but I can relate in a way as well. Our son got his surgery when he was 2 and we have had alot of problems and alot of guarentees were given to us that never happened. He is 4 now and we are still struggling, I am to worried to put him in preschool. It is harder as they get older, I have alot of fears so I am crying with you as well. We see now the other problems connected to this as they get older. So you are in our prayers and heart, good luck and do the best you can. Rosie ( he got the fundo and g-tube sorry)

Hello, Rosie, Eli is 3 1/2 and I have concerns about preschool and such too, he is just behind in many areas because he felt so crappy so long. It is a different kind of frustration with reflux when they get older isn't it? Glad there are others out there who understand and we have this board! Eli had the fundo at 2 1/2 with no G-tube placed. He also had correcting for his emptying problems.

It's hard to start them in school believe me !!! We have had so many issues. Noah fell so far behind again this year so he is actually right now up the street from me with a tutor, so not only does he have to go to school he has to tutor as well !!! UGGG !!!!

Katy, you and Noah are both in my thoughts and prayers.... It is not fair for these older kids to have to live life with GERD, let alone the little ones too. I wish I had the miraculous answer for you, but I don't...I have my fingers crossed daily that Andrew will be better by the time he is TWO!

I also have my fingers crossed for little Noah, that he soon finds that light right along side of you:)

Hello rosie here, Gaebriels mommy. It is so nice to hear other moms with my same fears. Gaeb is delayed alot with social areas, he has alot of fears and is very shy. It is like another mom mentioned because he is allways so sick and feeling crappy. I will be honest we take care of them 24/7 and then we have to trust other people with our children when they start school, that scares me. I am so afraid that Gaeb wont fit in, I sometimes cry when I watch him hooked up on the couch with one of his feeds. It is just so unfair ,it affects our 2 daughters as well. Thank-you for everyone sharing it is so nice to hear. Rosie
