My child isn't sleeping during the day. HELP I am so tired and I know she is. Today is the first in a week that she has layed down. 30 minutes and counting. Her reflux has been acting up right much lately, so I placed a call to her GI this am and she said to try Maalox during the day. I told her that her night sleep hasn't been interrupted, but the naps are a big problem. I finally propped her up on a pillow today to get her to sleep(which is a no-no per my family doc) but my child needed to rest.

Anyway, sorry I haven't been on much lately. With no naps during the day, I don't have much free time to play on comp. Gracie likes to help mommy on the computer :D which makes it a little difficult when she sees me typing away.

Sandy- that pic of you and Lauren is adorable!!

Sounds very familiar! Noah might get two half hour naps per day. If he is so tired that he won't stop crying and things are not looking good, then I put him in the car and drive. He'll sleep until the car stops. With gas prices so high, this is NOT a good solution, but it gets us through those terrible days.

I here you Maggie. You do what you have to do to get a nap in :) I used to laugh at my friend that had a child that was a year older than Gracie: she would say, " You know Gracie would be better if you would put her on a schedule!" Yeah, right!!! Reflux and naps don't go together very well.

Is her night time bedtime consistent? Is it fairly early? Is she waking up earlier?

It's no fun when they won't sleep! Ian's been doing the 30-45 minute nap thing lately, too, and waking up super crabby. I know he's not resting enough, but that's the way things are for now. I sincerely hope he's not cutting out another nap!

I know with my older boys, they started having spotty days where they'd need 2 naps and some where they needed 1. It would go on like that for a month and then they'd truly drop that extra nap. Any chance that she's just getting ready to drop a nap?

Whoops!! I just realized an error- I HEAR you Maggie not here. Too much going on right now- trying to cook dinner, play with my kid, and have an adult conversation with the hubby :D :D

I've been there, too. It was impossible to put my second child, my GERDling on a schedule. He was done with his morning nap by 6-8 months, and outgrew his afternoon nap by 19 months. He'd still be up until 11 p.m. too, at that point. Now that he's older and feeling somewhat better, it's much easier to keep him on a schedule.

I wish she was still taking 2 naps. She dropped her am nap around a year old, so the one hour nap is her total all day which happens around 1pm. So since she hasn't even been taking that pm nap, I feel sorry for her because I know she wants that nap and needs it. She has the same bedtime ritual and actual bedtime every night. She sleeps from 8/8:30 to about 7:30/8am everyday. I hope it is just a phase. Her reflux seems to be subsiding for now, so hopefully her 2 hour afternoon naps will come back soon too.

Thanks for listening.

Sounds all too familiar! My son has NEVER been a good napper! The longest he goes for naps during the day is 40 minutes. They're usually 30 minutes on the dot and only two naps during the day! It sucks because I know he's still tired but wont go back down!
I can say that on RARE occassions...about twice a month, I get a good two hour afternoon nap out of him. But that is VERY RARE. I'm sending some baby sleeping pills your way if I ever find some for myself! :sleepy5:
