View Full Version : over constipation?
ZacsMom 10-04-2005, 01:33 PM I "THINK" we're over the constipation. At least I'm given a break in some department. I've stopped the iron supplements at 7 weeks of use (they were supposed to be given for 2 months). After about 6 days OFF the iron, yesterday we had a HUGE BLOWOUT and another after that of actual NORMAL poop!! Until now, we had not seen one single normal poopie diaper in almost 2 months!! It was actually mush and normal colors, not black, not the size of a pea!! HAHA...anyhow we're happy about that. I also gave him some prune juice yesterday. Today we had a normal size, normal color (carrots lol) poopie again. I think this is a good sign for the poop department anyhow. At least it's something.
AlexysandAaronsMom 10-04-2005, 01:37 PM That is great to hear!! GOod pooping Zac!!! :P
It shouldnt be a big deal that you took him off the iron, since he's eating solids now anyway. Baby cereal has a ton of iron in it....I had to get low iron prenatal vitamins since they were doing the same thing to me as Zac
CadysMommy 10-04-2005, 03:14 PM Sarah, that's wonderful news. Happy pooping for Zac! What a relief, huh?
ZacsMom 10-04-2005, 03:18 PM Definitely a relief! Just glad at least that cleared up before this new teething battle began! One thing right after another, you know! These babies really have it all planned out accordingly for us don't they?
CadysMommy 10-04-2005, 07:37 PM Don't they ever! If it's not one thing, it's another.
Again, I'm glad Zac is pooping. That's a relief that's very much needed for you right now.
EmmasMommy 10-04-2005, 07:51 PM Yeah Zac! :D
Leigh 10-06-2005, 07:03 PM Good job, Zac! It is horrible to deal with poop issues. Maybe Zac is having some gastro issues as a result of constipation. The longer they are constipated the more "pockets" of poop form and the more likely you are to have a blowout. It is a terrific sign that he had the icky stools followed by the normal stools. Just peachy!

ZacsMom 10-06-2005, 07:06 PM well...we seem to be back to the little balls again. time for more prunes :?
Leigh 10-06-2005, 07:16 PM Little balls better than stuff exploding down the legs....
Prunes. Yum. (oh, do I hate prunes!) Poor kiddo.
This to shall pass...
If it is any consolation, Iain has yellowish and whitish balls of poop right now. Rather disconcerting for me as it is not normal. I know he must be contipated, too. Must be something in the air with our GERDlings of late.
We can be "poop" buddies.

EmmasMommy 10-06-2005, 07:28 PM Emma's constipated too....
My MIL gave her a jar of stage 1 bananas I had in the cabinet the other day....I was out shopping with my mom and DH was watching her when the lovely MIL stopped by.....I had bought them in a fruit combo pack on sale and never planned on giving her the bananas b/c they tend to plug people up...(I was going to eat them, actually  )
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR......
I hate MIL's.... :x
I mean, constipation. (sorry I let that slip)
Leigh 10-06-2005, 07:34 PM GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR......
I hate MIL's.... :x
I mean, constipation. (sorry I let that slip)
 Yeah, it was an honest mistake!
Want to be a poop buddy, too? There seriously must be something in the air for the board GERDlings of late. Iain's poops are disturbing right now. Icky, yucky, poo.
Hope Emma is better soon!
Leigh
EmmasMommy 10-06-2005, 07:37 PM Thanks! I hope these kid's start pooping! :D
ZacsMom 10-06-2005, 08:09 PM LOL "poop buddies"...well I'm "down" with it. HAHA
Oh yes, zac actually had a "poopie" diaper for the ped to see...she said "oh yes that is too hard"...well...ummm wtf do i do about it? LOL
J/K really, i know i have to push more water/prunes if i have to.
Amanda (my fellow poop buddy) Zac has YET to be able to taste bananas or apples or rice because i'm afraid of the "binding" effect it can have on his system already constipated. :(
OwensMom 10-08-2005, 09:27 AM Owen gets constipated with some foods that I tried too, I added about 2tsp of prunes to his breakfast and dinner cereal and he has been doing better now.
I also can't give him rice cereal since that makes him constipated too. He does drink the german baby tea, it has fennel in it and that seems to help his system too.
ZacsMom 10-08-2005, 01:09 PM german tea...where do you find that?
OwensMom 10-08-2005, 01:58 PM we are in germany right now, so I can get it in any store were they have baby food. If you would like to try it out, I could send you some.
ZacsMom 10-08-2005, 07:02 PM DUH, didn't even see that. Sorry! Is it the fennel that is supposed to help constipatoin? If so I can search for items w/that ingredient for him.
OwensMom 10-09-2005, 07:23 AM Here is a link to a website that sell german products in the states. This is the tea that I use for Owen. If you try it out, I hope it helps little Zachary.

Nathan'sMommy 10-09-2005, 03:36 PM Hi Sara -
Certain forms of gripe water (like Baby Bliss) have fennel in them... :)
