I know GERDlings have all sorts of problems sleeping, but I'm starting to worry about our nap situation. Noah might take two naps a day, ranging from 15-30 minutes each. He only sleeps about 7-8 hours a night, and he wakes once or twice. I spend lots of time trying to get him to nap, but it never works. It seems to be getting worse, and then he is so crabby which makes feeding worse and then the reflux gets worse and so on.

How often do your babies nap? Any tricks to getting them to sleep other than rocking, music, white noise, driving...?

Oh, Maggie, sleep is sooo hard with a refluxer. We spent the first few months trying to get Nathan to learn to sleep on his own, and it was so tough. Have you looked into a sleeping book? We were big fans of Baby Whisperer - I liked that the book told me step by step exactly what to do...

Catherine takes maybe one 30-45 minute nap during the day. Her "night" is 8:30pm-6:30am, and she wakes on average 3 times. We're trying to tough love the 2:30am waking out of her and bought her this nifty little thing from Fisher Price that plays music and shines moving pictures of cartoon birds on the ceiling. It's helping with bedtime but does nothing for daytime sleeping. She'll scream for 45 minutes in the afternoon before falling into a 30-minute fitfull sleep.

For the first 2 mos. of Lauren's life, the only place she would sleep was on my or her father's chest. We then moved her to her crib and she did cry for a couple of nights. We bougth the book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby" and it has worked wonders for us.

She is 6 1/2 mos. old and sleeps on average from 8:30/9:00 to 7:00/7:30 and takes 3 naps during the day. First nap around 9/9:30 for about 1 1/2 hrs., second nap around 1:00/2:00 for about 2 hrs., and a quick evening nap around 6:00/6:30 for 30-45 mins.

This works great for all of us. Here's wishing you some restful days and nights.

Sandy--Lauren's sleep schedule is amazing! I am so jelous!

Lesley--We have that same bird thing. Noah liked it a lot when he was younger, but I took it out about a month ago when he no longer liked it. Maybe I'll try putting it back in. Sounds like Noah and your daughter have identical sleeping patterns. Its really tough, isn't it?
