Well, it sounds like what we went through for a couple of years here. You are seeing the "overflow" stool that is diahrrea which occurs when your child is supremely constipated. The stool collects and collects and collects until it stretches the intestines and forms pockets. These pockets have to empty out and that is your diahrrea. Did the doctor call her a stool holder? It starts out that way then they really have no control or ability to recognize the signals for having a BM, so be patient. Usually, the laxative is given so that the stool is loosened and she is to have at least one BM a day (preferably more until she has more "normal" stools) then they back off a bit with it. She needs to know that having a BM does not hurt and that takes time. Also, she needs time to have her intestines shrink back into a more normal size so that she can recognize the signals her body is giving her to have a BM.
The spitting out of food is normal for kids with wicked constipation. It causes GERD symptoms as well since they literally have NO room for food. You have to change her diet rather drastically. The cheetos, cake, ice cream, etc. is NOT good. I know how you must want her to eat and get calories, but this is not the way to do it. She needs to avoid things that will costipate her and to concentrate on foods that will give her bulk and help her pass stools. I have a list of the foods you need to avoid and the ones to feed for this very problem and will post them if you like. You will not like them at all and will find them very restrictive, but it IS possible. You need to exercise moderation and common sense and you will find a difference. It is tough to do an it takes a long time to overcome, just be prepared and know that it will get better if you do the changes.
What is the powder she is on? Good luck with moving! Hope you find your kitchen fast!
