At last! The Safe T Sleep is here! It looks like a great product, but definitely not worth the $65 bucks and then another $40 in shipping to get it here in less than a month. That's besides the point...

Noah has slept in a carseat or bouncy seat for the past three months. We didn't have luck with the elevated crib because he rolled. The Safe-T-Sleep "anchors" him on the incline. I sucked it up and spent the money on this item so that we can transition back to the crib so that when he outgrows reflux which is going to be REALLY soon (I'm so hopeful), he can sleep in a crib as normal.

I tried putting him in the crib for a nap several times today, and he cried, of course, since he's used to a soft, cushy bed and then I lay him on this hard mattress.

I know the transition is going to take time, but I'm betting some of you have some helpful hints to make this a little easier! Anyone been in this situation?

I know what you mean about it not being worth all the money for shipping and everything. It's just a piece of sewn cloth for goodness sake! It about killed me to spend that money. That and I didn't want to admit the reflux was going to stay with us for a lot longer than I thought. sigh...
But Eric LOVED his SafeTsleep right away. It's how he always liked to sleep. When I couldn't hold him, I used to put him in his bouncy chairs backwards so he was on his tummy all the time. It looked really weird, but this is how he napped ( I use this term VERY loosely, because I don't think nodding off for a few minutes fifty times a day is considered napping) until we got this.

Eric used to stop breathing and have really scary episodes. If it happened more than once or twice in one spot he would never sleep there again. So no floor in any room, no beds, no carseats, no bouncers, swings, etc. We went through 5 bouncer seats that looked completely different from one another and rotated them. That kid has a memory, let me tell ya! LOL

The only place that he didn't go blue or have a "spell" was his crib. He slept in his crib only at night, and he did much better at night as far as breathing. So The crib with a safeTsleep was a very welcome change for my guy, and his naps went wonderfully. I just kept my fingers crossed that he wouldn't aspirate or choke while in it, because I was outta ideas to make him feel safe.

Do you have any transition item. A blanket, or toy that he likes. For Eric it's his burp rags. He has to have a burp rag to suck on when he sleeps. (That thing is so Ewwww gross in the morning. Just drenched) Another thing to think of is the incline. Is it similar to what he's used to? I mean that's quite an incline to match up with a bouncer. I started out with the crib ridiculously sloped. Then as he adjusted and it became routine to velcro him in, I lowered it. I don't know if this helped or not, but HEY I tried

Minnie--

Thanks for your input. Sounds like Eric and the Safetsleep really hit it off!

We're not having ANY luck. We've spent lots of time playing in it, just to get him comfortable with it, but he will not nap or sleep in it. I give him his blankie, but I typically tucked it into the bottom of the car seat or bouncy seat, so its not the same in his crib.

Any other suggestions?

Love,

Maggie

I rolled up some blankets and towels, and made a little nest under the sheet around the safetsleep, trying to imitate the cuddly carseat or bouncy seat. I really hope this works. He still hasn't slept a wink in it.
