OK Kena has this issue with poop , that started even before being diagnosed with reflux. She screams in agony if she is pooping or has poop in her diaper. Last night within 3 hours she pooped 7 TIMES! It is like she cannot push it out, and she was screaming most of theses 3 hours. She has the yellow poop, but it is alittle watery, not really that seedy.
Is this related to the reflux, what can I do to help her? I have cut out Cows milk, choclate, and caffeine.

Welcome to the boards! Let me see if I can think out loud on this one (or type out loud).
She is still a newborn, so the frequent poops isn't that unusal. But the 7 times in three hours seems a bit much... You said that her poops are sort of watery, so she may be having diarrhea. If that is the case, that could explain the burning and pain when the poop is in the diaper. Diarrhea has more digestive enzymes in them than normal poop, which makes the skin burn, sometimes leading to diaper rash. Can you try a diaper cream on her tush to see if that helps? (I am a BIG fan of the brand called "Butt Paste").
With the frequent BMs, she could also have a tiny anal fissure, which would definitely cause pain. Do you notice any blood in the stools, or can you take a peek to see if you see a fissure? If so, the doc can prescribe a cream to help heal it.
Finally, I would do just what you are doing as far as elminating certain foods from your diet to see if that helps.
Hope she feels better soon!

Hi Jessamy!
Sheila has already given you some great ideas and suggestions, but I wanted to stop by and say "Welcome!" We're glad to have you!

Sheila seems to have this covered. :D I would add that if it is indeed a fissure, they can be very painful indeed. My middle son has them and we use epsom salts in the bath to increase blood flow. Ask your ped about using them as it can really help as well, but I have an older child.
Could she have gas issues as well? Are her BMs noisy? Explosive?

Hi there and welcome to the boards! I think Sheila said it all. I too, am a fan of the barrier cream on the butt. Poor baby for having all those poops! Hoping it has improved by now...???
