Well it's been two days since Kyle's chiro appt and he's been off the Reglan for 3 days. This is how the weekend has gone.
Friday was a bad day he spit up after just about every feeding, whether it was formula or after nursing and there was no change that day after his adjustment.
Satuday seemed to be better, he was still spitting up after feedings but it seemed to vary. Most of the day it was just a little bit, nothing major and we didn't have to change his clothes or anything, just wiped him off. He did have one feeding where he seemed to bring up just about all of what he had in the bottle. Of course that was after I had just commented on how well he had been doing.
Now today was a really good day. Small amounts of spit up after his feedings but like yesterday nothing major and we didn't have to change his clothes at all. In fact he had on the same onesie from about 10 am this morning until I changed him for bed at 7:30 and he didn't even have a bib on. Friday he went through a couple different outfits and to be honest I can't remember if we had to change his clothes yesterday.
So is it too soon to say that the adjustment on Friday has helped him? I don't know, but, I have seen an improvement in him over the past couple days.
I can honestly say that since he's been off the Reglan his personality has really come out. He smiles more, "talks" more and is much more alert.
I'll keep everyone updated as the week goes on as to how he's doing.

That's interesting. I hope his chiro adjustment did help. What exactly did they do at your appointment?

Yes, it's probably too early to say whether or not the adjustment helped, as it could just be the reflux roller coaster. You'd probably have to try a few adjustments to see if he has improved after each one.

It sounds like Reglan wasn't the right med. for your son. Good thing you took him off of it.

The chiropractor had me lay Kyle across my lap and then he gently pressed on his spine. He did an adjustment like at his tail bone (I forget what he said that one was for) and then he did one that was up higher and he said that one was for the stomach and digestive system so that was the one for the reflux. He also adjusted his neck and that was a little scarey for me but Kyle didn't mind it and I trust our chiropractor.
When Kyle was on the Reglan he would smile and "talk" to us but it's interesting how much more he does it since he's off it. I haven't told his ped that I took him off the Reglan, he doesn't go back until the end of October so I'll probably wait until then and see how he does.
He had his breakfast bottle about 30 minutes ago and so far so good. No spitting up of any sort. :D

Here's a link to some information I found on the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association website. About halfway down the page is a case study dealing with reflux.

It sounds great so far, but remember you just pulled some meds and it has only been 3 days. If it works, TERRIFIC! I would remain very cautious until some weeks have passed, though. How old is he again? Sorry, I can not recall.

A little later on I shall check out your link to the information. I love reading stuff like that, so thanks!

Kyle's 2 months old. I won't say that it worked until it has been a few weeks and I've seen some consistancy in his condition. Today went pretty well, hardly any spitting up until this evening but I think that he may have eaten too much. I had given him a bottle when he woke up at 4 and then he was hungry about 5:30 and then when my husband got home from work at 7 he was acting like he was hungry (stuffing his fist in his mouth) so he gave him 2 ounces. I think those 2 ounces were too much for him.

Hi sent my son to a chiropractor at about 9 months for chronic reflux. I am not sure it is a cure but it definitely helped him for a few days after. I have a theory that after so much vomiting his back went out and it gave him relief.

He is 23 months now and we still go monthly ( in his bad days we went 3 times a week and he always slept well after).

I was sceptical but desperate and for us it has been a positive experience.

We did keep him on all meds.

Hi - I'm pretty new to this whole thing too - but my daughter is 5 months old and has gotten weekly adjustments for a while for her reflux. It doesn't stop the spit ups or anything, but she seems so much more comfortable and happy - and her pain seems lessened. It does take awhile to notice a difference - hang in there! Tara
