View Full Version : What Meds Does Baby Take? Pooka 09-05-2005, 04:15 PM Just wondering what meds baby's are on for reflux. I know many of the babies on hereare no many meds, but I don't know how to make it let you choose more than one. Nathan'sMommy 09-05-2005, 06:37 PM Besides the current Prevacid, Nathan has been on antacids, Zantac, Reglan, Carafate, and Erythromycin. Our medicine cabinet could treat a roomful or GERDlings... :) CadysMommy 09-05-2005, 09:07 PM Cady's currently on Prevacid since a month ago. Before then, from the time she was 4 weeks old until she started the Prevacid, she was on Pepcid and Reglan. That's it for us. Leigh 09-05-2005, 09:34 PM Iain has been on zantac since being diagnosed at 14 months and he is now 19 months old. We did try the prevacid capsules and due to his non-eating status and inability to swallow, it was a disaster. If his zantac does not keep things under control we are to give prevacid a trial again now that he has learned how to swallow this last month. We have a host of meds for asthma and also are on nutrem jr supplement now for Iain. My second son turns 4 in November and is also on zantac. Leigh KaitlynsMom 09-05-2005, 11:05 PM Kaitlyn was on Prevacid from 4 weeks to about 9 weeks and then for the last almost 3 weeks she has been on Zantac. Nothing else so far, we have an appointment with the Ped GI - we'll see what happens then. :) OwensMom 09-11-2005, 09:19 AM Right now Owen only takes the Zantac, it seems to work most of the time. Besides the Zantac he was on Reglan until recently and he is doing better without the Reglan. I was wondering though if I could give him something like Mylanta on those really bad days to give him some relief. If any of you could tell me about that, it would be really helpful. Nathan'sMommy 09-11-2005, 11:58 AM I was wondering though if I could give him something like Mylanta on those really bad days to give him some relief.. Oh, definitely! We used Mylanta Supreme all the time when he seemed to be in pain. It also helped to give it before a feed. Our ped GI had us give him 1 tsp as needed (he said even every 4 hrs is fine). So, yup, I am a definite OTC antacid fan. One warning - it may affect his poops (some will constipate, some cause diarrhea). So if Mylanta doesn't work, try Maalox... (not sure what you have in Germany) OwensMom 09-11-2005, 12:10 PM We go shopping at the px and commissarry so we can get mylanta and maalox. I'm just not sure if his ped will go for it or not, I will mention it to her though when we go up there on the 19th. Thanks for the input. Becky in NM 09-11-2005, 03:14 PM Daniel is taking nothing for reflux (woo hoo! but we have a rx for zantac), but he's on enulose to help him poop. Janette 09-11-2005, 10:08 PM We go shopping at the px and commissarry What are those, Melanie? Evan has been on Losec and Domperidone for his reflux since he was diagnosed at 19 months. A px may be the same thing. A px may be the same thing. The commissary is a grocery store and at the PX you can get anything from clothing, shoes, electronics and so on. They are for military families and they are on base. lucyinaz 09-12-2005, 06:41 PM Besides the current Prevacid, Nathan has been on antacids, Zantac, Reglan, Carafate, and Erythromycin. I can't bring myself to throw away the full bottle of reglan sitting up there on the shelf. nevermind the fact it didn't help him! chloabug126 09-21-2005, 12:26 PM my son is on Zantac and Reglan and niether medication seem to work |
