I need HELP! My 12 month old can not sleep! She is tossing and turning all night. I recently had back surgery so it is difficult for me to pick her up and help her sleep. She has been sleeping in her Amby bed since was 5 weeks old but lately she can not stay asleep and is refluxing a lot more. We recently took her to new GI who doubled her meds which helped for 2 weeks. I was wondering if anyone has tried the comfylift bed? The doctor was also talking about doing a scope? I thought she was starting to grow out of this and now she is getting worse! Please help I am seriously sleep deprived. She is my fifith child so it is very difficult to have the energy to deal with the other four!!!

Hi Tina! Have you already tried elevating the head of her crib? What about eliminating some of the foods that can make reflux worse or trying to keep her upright for at least a half hour after she eats? What meds. is she on? Can you try another med. to see if she does better on it? I know what you mean about looking after your family when you're running on only a couple broken hours of sleep max. per night. Hang in there! Things will improve again!

She was dx with GER at 4 weeks and MSPI at 7 weeks. So I have had no dairy or soy in my diet since then. She eats at least one meal of baby food a day is BF several times a day ( I don't count when she hungry she nurses). She is on 8 ml of Prilosec a day. She has always slept upright I fixed her Amby bed so she is always sleeping upright. She is tiny at 16 6oz. she is plump just tiny for age! Sometimes she sleeps with me due to back problems, I am not allowed to pick her up for another 3 weeks. I sometimes wonder if she needs more room and is ready for a bigger bed that is why I am wondering about the comfylift bed!

Thank you for the quick post!

Hi Tina..
Sorry can't help much here as I have never used the comfylift bed. COuld you try swaddling her (seeing as she is so small) to make her feel more secure. Or maybe a baby sleeping bag might do the trick. Failing that, a trial of a SafeTSleep might help. (www.safetsleep.com)
(((HUGS))) about the sleep deprivation.. I know what that is like (reminds me of the early days with the twins) and I didn't have other children to woory about. Hang in there! You're doing a great job!

Hello,
I havent used the comfylift bed, but just wanted to ask if you have let the doc know that it the meds dont seem to be helping and it happened all of a sudden? Maybe she needs even more? Or something in addition? Looking into a bigger bed makes sense as well :) She could just be on the downhill slope, maybe a cold or teeth is causing the reflux to worsen?

Alexys slept with us until she was 4-5 mos, and then she started to get really restless too. We put her in her crib and she loved having tons of room to herself. Maybe she is just growing out of the amby?? I would also ask the drs about checking on her meds, even a slight weight increase can call for a higher dose. Hope she feels better soon and you both get some sleep!!

Hi Tina:

Sorry I don't know about the comfy bed either, hope you get some sleep soon though. Nothing worse than trying to deal with a sick child when you are so tired. I'd go to their website and read all I could about it. If you can afford it, anything is worth a try.

best wishes

Tina,

I received a strange e-mail today regarding my daughter (I don't have one! ) and the ComfyLiftBed. I'm pretty sure that it was meant for you, so here are the basics of what the author said.

"A customer said they were hearing nice things about us on infantrefluxdisease.com, so I went there and read through the forums today. [Roni will be absolutely thrilled to hear that!] Your post caught my eye, so I wanted to send you this e-mail. *It sounds to me like the elevation of the hammock isn’t the problem. *If your daughter is sleeping almost upright, the ComfyLiftBed will not decrease the amount of reflux. *It may make her more comfortable, but it is at a much lower degree of elevation than the adjustable hammock.

My first thought was that your daughter had outgrown her hammock and was not getting restful sleep because she felt restrained, but you say that she is tiny for her age/weight.* If you recently changed meds or dosage of meds, that seems like a more likely cause for the change. *I’m not a medical professional, but if it were one of my three children I’d return to my physician for a follow up as soon as possible and try to make clear every change in the symptoms since the last visit.

Sincerely,

Benjamin Hill

That's what I like so much about this company...they don't just claim to have the miracle cure for your kid in order to make a sale. They actually seem very honest and really, truly want to help kids!

Kudos to them for caring about these sick kids!!! They're almost too good to be true, but thankfully not quite!

Thank you for all the wonderful responses! I decided to order the comfylift bed. I received it on Friday she actually slept 4 hours straight. In fact I woke up and got paniced! She hasn't slept that long in months. Hopefully tonight will be just as wonderful!!! I defintely think she had just outgrown her Amby bed. It couldn't have come at better time I feel like I might be getting a cold. I will keep you posted on how it goes.

That's great.. :D ..keep us updated. If Emma's still refluxy as a toddler, (keeping fingers crossed that she won't be but.... :( ), I've already thought about getting it for Em.

Wonderful news! :D

I'm glad the bed worked for you. Let's hope you get more and more sleep!! :D
AManda.. hoping that you won't need to order one for Emma once she hits "toddlerhood". I am SURE she will be much better by then.

Thanks for the positive outlook, Sarah! :D I tend to not have one these days with regards to Emma's reflux....seems like it will never get better!!! :(
