Hi everyone. Thanks so much for the wonderful advice.

We have talked to the surgeon and Tucker will be having his surgery 8/16, 17 or 18th. The surgeon wants to see him on 8/15, and will set the date after that but it will be sometime that week--unless he is not over his sinusitis. He's been on IV antiobiotics for 3 days now. He is going to stay in the hospital at least over the weekend and then possibly come home early next week and then go back to a different hospital for the surgery. I hate hospital politics. The surgeon that we want to use gave up his privileges at the Children's Hospital in our area because of internal politics, now we have to go to a different hosptial to have the surgery performed. One would think that the children's hospital would do whatever this surgeon wants as he is the best and most sought after in our area. I hear through the grapevine that the hospital tried to get him back, but he was so annoyed with them at that point he said forget it. It just makes me nervous, because the children's hospital knows Tucker so well, and now he has to go somewhere totally new. But his twin, Kendall, had hernia surgery at this other hospital (with the same surgeon) and it was fine, just different because we don't know it as well.

Now that we have made the decision to have the surgery, I'm anxious to get it done but the surgeon is going out of town tomorrow for a week. I guess we've been patient for the 3 months since his diagnosis, so one more week isn't going to be so bad. Plus it gives him another week to gain some more weight and get stronger. He's up to a whopping 6 lbs 8 onces now.

I think we had to wait six weeks for Daniel's G tube placement after finally deciding to go ahead with it, and I was just like you -- ready to get it over with ASAP! I hope Tucker kicks that sinusitis and has a great week before the surgery. Please post the date (when it's set) on the calendar so we can all be thinking of and praying for him.

I am glad to hear that you made a decision to have the surgery. I do hope that all goes well. I am sorry that you have to have it at a different hospital than you are used to. I will keepyou in our thoughts and prayers.

Continue to keep us posted. When our GI at the childrens hospital decided to go ahead with the surgery he sent us 4 hours away to have it done even though our childrens hospital did the surgery. The reason was because the other hospital had a really high success rate. I am glad he made that decision. When it comes to this surgery some surgeons are better than others. I was shocked because I placed our Childrens hospital so high.

Anyhow, I am sure you will have a wonderful surgeon, keep us posted, and let us know of any Qs you have. Sorry so late, we have been on vacation (something we can do since we had the surgery! ) keep us posted!!

Good luck with the surgery. Sometimes I think trying to make the decision is the hardest, once you decide what to do and know you made the right choice at least you can have a little peace.

It is great to that you know and like the surgeon, that is a big deal!

Best wishes
