Our daughter Isabella "Bella" has alot of Constipation. We usually have to feed her prunes in order to get her to have a bowel movement. But, when she does have a movement on her own recently it has been semi soft and in a very large amount all at one time. Is that the "dumping" I have heard of refered to on this site? If not, her own bowel movements seem awfully large for her little size :) to be "normal". ??????
In the past they were very hard and clay like, stuck to her bottom and had to be passed with much strain, so I am actually happy to see her having the looser stools, it's the quantity of them that scares me now, Hahaha, can't win for loosing huh!

My Daughter has large poop that are too large as well. It makes me wonder as well. You may ask the doctor about colace which is a stool softer or there is another great one that the GI gave me but I can't think of the name of it now. Good Luck!

So true! LOL I think the dumping syndrome that people talk about have more to do with food passing from stomache into the intestines too quickly, but others would probably know more about that. My son would have HUGE blowouts, as in poop all the way up the back to his neck. (Yuck, I know  ) I don't think that quantity matters as much as quality :) . If she seems constipated, can you ask your doc about other things to try? We used either prune juice, or a little water, and his GI had us give Milk of Magnesia when things got really stuck... But constipation is a real issue, because it makes reflux so much worse.

If her poops are huge and liquidy and very smelly they could be "run off" poop caused by old stools impacting in the intestines and creating pockets of poop. These pockets have to drain out and hence the yicky, smelly, liquidy, almost explosive stuff which seems to pour right out. This happens with a chronic constipation problem.

Our middle son apparently has this and it is over a year and a half now. We were instructed to give him mineral oil, keep his little butt creamed up with desitin to prevent tearing and to help any tears, and to put epsom salts in all his baths to help increase blood flow there and healing. Give your ped a call to see if any of that would do the trick for you. Sometimes the prune juice can still constipate due to the sugar. You may need colace or something else to help her. Massaging the abdomen gently might help as well, particularly the lower right area, but gently for wee ones.
