I am more upset and mad than I have been about of what is going on with Hobbes. I just got off the phone with the speech pathogolist(sp)and she has just told me that PCt will not be picking up Hobbes till October -Novemebr and that is a BIG maybe! The waiting list is 16 month even as URGENT! What the You know what is that! Then she said that he has not been evalution even yet! He just had a screening with her. So that is the waiting list to be evalution and then there will be a wait for the therapy to start due to if there will be more help that will need to be involved. So It maybe 6 or a year before he will get any help! She told me to get private therapy if we can. We are already looking in to it but we think that it will only cover 12 session.(Dh has insurance, I didn't) I am taking it to to our MLA and the file a compliant with WHRA as well. I am sitting here thinking at this rate, Hobbes will never talk! He needs the help Now. They are pushing it further and further away to where he will be at scholl not talking. Then I think doesn't it happen to them that he has be dx with Austism mild or moderate, where is the Help for him? I am so UPSET! I just want Help for my child and this beep , beep, beep system is failing him!

that is so frustrating! Can you call the school district? In the States starting at 3, our schools have a specialist come in once a week to work with kids in the area for each school district, they said Eli could get right in, maybe you can check into that.

There's no such thing up here. All of the speech therapy is done through children's rehab. centres. Those who can afford it, go private until they get in to speech therapy, and some of them even continue it thereafter.

Shannon, I'm so sorry about the darn system! There has to be something that can be done to get Hobbes in earlier. Something just isn't right! Could you push for even an introductory appt. or one per month, so that you can work on everything at home? Is there someone who can advocate for you and Hobbes?

I was able to get a phone from the ST to the Ditector of communcication Disorder today and I have called her to file a complain about the long waiting periods so maybe that will help. There is our service worker who said that is what she is here for but i didn't it helps at all. They can't even tell me how to stop his repetive in watching the same movie, from morning to bed time. They have not even help on how to his temper tanturm to stopor his obsession for the bath tub over 20 x aday. They are bad. And It is hard. Sorry I am rambling! It is not right! Something is wrong with this system. We had an introductory appointment las t September where they show us something to do at home but they didn't work!

Someone Did listen!!! :shock: I talked the dicector of communcation disoders just now and a complain went in about the waiting lists. She gave me some wonderful places to check. There was one that our service worker , CDW, and Service worker of Austism assed on that I now think that they should have told us more on than passing it without giving us that choice. There is a program called "Let's get started" for austism and there is ST in that program for kids for 6 months. That would be the start that we are looking for till St can start here at home with him. So I am going to talk to the service worker about it tomorrow. It will be good to do for maybe the summer. Plus another program which we had talked about but it would be pretty intense for Hobbes andwe are not sure that he is ready for that. So the complain was a start!
