well lucas is almost 2 months old now and he has never liked his crib. he always crys and squirms alot. he will only sleep for hours at a time while being held, in his swing or bouncy seat. we tried swaddling but no matter how snug it is he always gets loose. hes been on prilosec now for 2 weeks (zantac didnt work) and it appears to be working. so im trying to get him to sleep in the crib. well tonights the first night and he was just crying and sqirming all over the crib, would close his eyes for a second or two then start up again. once the crying was becoming more than a tired cry i would pick him up and he was quiet and would start to doze. so, back in the crib. well this continued for about 45 mins. then i wanted to see something so i picked him up again he stopped to cry instantly then i laid him back down but this time on his tummy with his head turned. his eyes were open but no crying no squirming and has been sleeping now for 30 mins. now its been drilled into my head with SIDS and all to sleep on his back. but he was so uncomfortable and wouldnt sleep. he holds his head up really good and has even lifted it off a pillow and he is real close to rolling over. so what do you all think? how do/did your little refluxers/non-refluxers sleep at this age?

Alexys has always slept on her side from the day we brought her home...now that she is rolling on her own we go in to get her in the morning and she is almost always on her belly. I guess its not up to me anymore which way she sleeps :)

They say as soon as your baby can lift their head very well when on their belly that the risk of sids lessens, but I am a paranoid first time mom and actually slept with my baby until a few weeks ago since cosleeping lowers the sids rate. Do you have the crib elevated?

Even though Nathan has always slept on his side, I have heard many parents swear by tummy sleeping for their babies. Our ped told us that while back is best, she did say that tummy sleeping is more comfortable for some GERD babies. I say do what works. I used to be really paranoid and couldn't sleep when I thought that Nathan might have rolled to bottom of the crib or rolled onto his tummy. So we got an angel care motion monitor (works great), just for mommy's peace of mind.

Catherine has always slept on her back until recently. I still put her down on her back and she usually immediately rolls to one side. She can roll over on her stomach but she will not turn her head to one side and cannot roll back over on her back so she wakes up screaming when she does make it over on her stomach.

For the most part, she does still sleep on her back.

We always propped the critters on their sides or on their backs. All my boys rolled over very early and preferred to sleep on their tummies. Iain likes to sleep on his tummy, legs up under him and bum in the air. It is sooooo cute!

I said "tummy" but felt I should explain. As a nurse I would say always on their back on side. However, Katerina could not sleep this way. for her, she needs pressure on her tummy. So we made an elevated, safe bed for her. She slept on her tummy, on my chest with me elevated for over a year. She still prefers her tummy but we keep her in our room so we can watch her close at night. She sleep walks and refluxes at night.
