Of all the tests that your little one has had, have you ever gotten any clear insight, answers, solutions from the results after the test was done. Meaning, after a test was completed did you then have a clear direction and treatment plan in place (as a result of the test results) that actually helped.

Catherine has had regular x-rays, bloodwork, an upper GI and an abdominal ultrasound all to confirm reflux. I think we got the most out of her GI actually spending an hour with her and just observing. He stripped her down to her diaper, fed her himself and was able to feel her start to reflux immediately as soon as she started to eat and to watch her puke all over me. I think we got more out of that hour than out of all the tests that told us what we already knew.

Did you get answers from the test, that you didn't already know?
Nope!

Looking back, do you really think the test was necessary? The only reflux test that Evan has had thus far was the upper GI, and I'd have to agree with the ped. that it was an utter waste of time. As for genetic testing, I would have to say that the tests are necessary in our case.

Our first Upper GI was done by a lazy radiologist, who said D didn't have reflux. Our second only confirmed what we knew and got D better meds. And his emptying study was inconclusive because he puked 3/4ths of the way through.

I am torn about the answer to this poll b/c the upper Gi didn't show her refluxing but it did show her aspirating on liquids. Witrhout that she would always be choking which she is now still. There was one x-ray also that showed that her windpipe collasped when she sucked in which we needed to know as well not that was any thing that could be done for it. The other test no. So I did say Yes to the testing question.

I really am glad that we did the upper GI. Until we got confirmation that he was definitely refluxing, I was a crazy woman on the internet everyday, saying "maybe he has colic, maybe he has pyloric stenosis, maybe he is just a tempermental baby, bla, bla, bla." When I was able to see him refluxing in the scan with my own eyes, I finally felt like I had a direction to go.
