My son and daughter will becoming on five years since it being done. My son also had to have a second done three years ago. My other son had his done four and half years ago. I will tell you that these fundos were last resorts and needed to be done. My two sons devleoped other problems post surgery and required feeding tubes. My one son has since had his removed and my other son still has his and continues to have issues. My daughter has just recently started to have problems again with reflux symptoms and this is the first in almost five years. Overall I will tell you the fundos were not perfect but did do what was needed to be done. Melanie. Shaes Grammy 04-24-2005, 05:12 PM Hi Melanie, welcome to the boards. Wow, you should have your name on a room at the hospital...sounds like you have been there a lot. I cannot imagine going through it with one children never mind what you have been through. I am sure you will be able to give the ladies here alot of help in coping with the fundo. Do you live far from a hospital? Were your children diagnosed at a young age? ElisMom 04-24-2005, 05:17 PM Oh, I am so glad to meet you and here your story. Thank you for sharing. I have been a loner on this section with my son and his fundo he just had recently. Thank you again for sharing :D melba19 04-24-2005, 07:01 PM Erin, I was wondering how your son made out with his fundo and if it was done lap or open? Did he have a gtube placed after surgery? When my children had their fundos done I didnt know anyone who had gone through it so it was a real awakening for me. Then when my sons ran into problems post fundo I was really at a loss. So yes it is nice to talk to others that have dealt with this issue. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Melanie. Janette 04-24-2005, 08:11 PM Wow Melanie! I'm sure that Erin will be glad to have another fundo. mom here to compare notes with, especially another mom who believes that the fundo. is a last resort. Glad to have you aboard! ElisMom 04-24-2005, 10:22 PM Hi Again, Elis was lap and no tube was placed. The only things I had heard were negative from people going into this surgery so I was pretty scared but now I have talked to many and have seen many who have done just fine thank goodness, most actually do. The recovery was difficult and long for most. I am sorry you had problems with noone to talk to, I have had lots of supports via internet and it has helped tremendously, this site is so supportive, you have come to the right place! Just wish you would have found us sooner. My friend Katy on this board, I am sure will pop in here as soon as she has time, her son just had his 4th fundo, yes 4th, so she hasnt been on as much.
