Well, it always seems to me that we battle the 7pm bedtime and have lots of screaming from the boys. Well, I have found a calming technique that has really helped (well, it worked last night anyway)!!!! I read somewhere that for a calming influence in infants you should put your hand on their head- it imitates the snuggliness of the womb apparently. SO last night I tried it. I puth their hands together on their chest and held them firmly and put my other hand on thier head. AFter about 2 minutes, sure enough, they calmed right down and their breathing slowed and we were off to dream land. That was the easiest night of getting them to bed in many weeks!!!!! *phew* I also tried it out with them this moring when they were really grizzly. Sure enough, it took a few minutes more of screaming but they calmed right down. It took 3 goes with Stephen but it did work. I then put hats on them (to try and imitate my hand) and they both nodded off. I really hope this will continue to work. Not sure if it would work on older children though.
Shannon...I thought this may help you with Zoee.

Thanks Sarahh! I need all the help I can get! I have find last night that burping her again has helped. Plus if I massaged her head, she will go to sleep but I have not done that in sometime because she is bigger now so it is harder to do but she loved it at your boys 'ages.

What a neat idea, Sarah! I wish I had known that trick a few years ago! I've also found that gentley massaging the back, the back of the neck, the head and the face does wonders, too.

Oooooh...we had another lovely quiet bedtime tonight. 2 minutes and I was out of that room and not called back by my boys! Wow!! I am sooooo relieved. All that crying at bedtime really is very tiring. You just don't realise it. How nice to be able to put them to bed, spend a couple of minutes saying goodnight and for them to go to sleep. Now, we just have to get the vomitting thing sorted!!!
