Hey Pam
I'm posting this here per Mary's suggestion. Its not really directly related to speech therapy, but since you get notified when something is posting here... here I am!
Anyway, since you are in Delaware, my question to you is: What do you know about AI duPont's feeding program?
To make a long story short, my son is seen at CHOP. We've seen the feeding team several times, but they have basically said they dont want/need to see him anytime soon. He is currently going to feeding therapy with a psychologist there weekly - and the feeding team is waiting to hear from her for when she thinks he should be seen by the "team" again.
He recently was evaluated by EI here for speech (he stutters, suddenly), and they were more concerned with his feeding than anything else (commenting that his emerging speech issues may be related to the feeding stuff).
Anyway, do you know anything about the feeding program at duPont? The approach we are using via CHOP is 100% behavioral. The feeding team there has decided that he doesnt have oral motor issues, he does have minor sensory issues, but they dont think it is really contributing that much to his feeding problems. The EI ST and OT disagreed, commenting that he does have low tone, and he for sure has sensory issues that they felt probably ARE contributing to his lack of feeding skills, etc. They highly suggested we contact duPont for an evaluation. We have never been there before, and honestly I dont know ANYTHING about them
What kind of approach does duPont take? Is it behavioral, or more focused on oral motor stuff? Any clue if they have a bazillion year waiting list? How does it compare to CHOP (if you know)?
Any info you might have would be wonderful
Thanks!
