Warning - this is a bit gross. :oops: Does anyone know what a runny, dark green (almost black) poopy means? Because my DS had been refusing his bottle again this past week, we tried Alimentum. And since he had been constipated, we tried oatmeal cereal to thicken instead of rice cereal, and a teaspoon of milk of magnesia a day. This morning he finally had a BM, but like none I have ever seen. Could anyone of these things (Alimentum, oatmeal cereal, M of M) cause this tar-like, ruuny poopy?

Ewww :lol: It's probably just the transition. We saw the same thing when we switched Daniel from breastmilk to formula, even though we tried to do it gradually (75% milk/25% formula, then 50/50, etc.). Daniel's was very dark green and like the consistency of tar.

I've talked to a few Mom's about this very thing. LOL
Eric's pooh was like tar while on alimentum too. So I posted on several boards asking about it, and most everyone said that their baby's pooh was tar like on alimentum as well. A few even asked their doc's and they said it was normal alimentum pooh. Maybe the constipation is a thing of the past, and the new formula is kicking in now. (fingers crossed) Hope you have happy tar poohs everyday!

It's the allimentum. Mattie's poops are always a greenish black- like something out of a swamp. :lol:
They are really smelly too, but doc says its normal. He actually warned me so I wasn't surprised.

My ped told me that "nothing will make a yuckier poop than Nutramagen" and Alimentiem is the same stuff, just a different manufacturer. And, he was right, yuck!

Thanks for all your input! What a relief to know this is normal Alimentum poop! I will change diapers with peace of mind now (along with a mask and gloves). :lol:

Catherine's day care thank dh yesterday for making their trash smell so much worse now that her Alimentum diapers go into it! :lol:
