My daughter several times a day says she has ucky burps. Well at home she drinks water. Does this sound right. Should she be drinkning tons of water because of the reflux? She just started daycare 2 days a week. They don't understand and don't think that she should be allowed so much because then the other children will want it. I do in a way understand, but what about her? What are some of the other reflux meds? They have never said anything but prevacid.

My little refluxer enjoys watered down apple juice from his cup, but his favourite thing of all when the reflux is burning at it's worst is refrigerator cold water straight from Mommy's water bottle. It just seems to cool everything down again and also to wash down the reflux, phlegm, etc. Water is supposedly more healthy than juice, so I can't see why that would be a problem at the day care.
Water is the only thing Shae drinks, and she drinks huge gulps at a time every evening. She's up to drinking close to an 1/8 of a sippy cup which is really a lot for her. I never thought about it in relationship to the reflux before, just figured it was because she was too sensitive to taste and texture to drink anything else but maybe it does has something to with the reflux as well.
The ucky burps make sense, that sounds like refluxed material coming up and getting swallowed back down. Of course, this happens to everyone sometimes...the problem occurs when it happens all the time.
As for other meds, go the treatments page on the main site, they are all listed there. Except the cytoprotective agents like Carafate, I forgot to re-add those when I redid the site. For now to get a list of those you could just google cytoprotective agents.

Limiting water at daycare seems like a pretty odd rule.
Getting Daniel to drink is our biggest (huge) issue, and our feeding specialists (one is a nutritionist) encourages just about anything, including water. He really likes trying to drink water from our glasses and then sticking his hand in.....

For sure! Research has shown that drinking water (and snacking) throughout the day helps kids to perform better in school. Knowing that, I really can't understand why a daycare would limit kids from drinking something as health as water. There should be a fountain that is readily available.

She only goes to daycare 2 days a week. I finally talked with the classroom teacher and they will give her water if she asks for it; but won't let her keep a cup with her. She has the burps about 15 times a day and always complains that her tummy hurts. We are still trying to get an endoscopy scheduled. Hope fully it will show more. Thank you all for your help!

I'm glad you were able to get things straightened out. I can understand the teachers not wanting her to walk around with the cup when the other kids aren't allowed to, but she certainly needs to drink when she wants to...not just on command.
