Ok,
So Nova has been on 7.5mg of Prevacid for about 3 weeks. Her physical symptoms (arching back, gulping, spitting up, rigidness) have SEEMED to have subsided. She has always cried ever since she was a newborn. (Everyone thought it was collic so we never made any changes to her diet) But now her crying is out of control. She screams when anyone holds her. She screams when you put her down. When my bf or I hold her, she does'nt scream, but still cries like, 50% of the time. She screams when it's feeding time and after her bottle is done she immediately screams. She cries when grandma holds her, she cries when we put her in the swing, she cries when she is in her play pen, she cries when in the walker, she cries laying on the floor with toys, she cries when I make her sit.... :hairpull: We've tried allementum, she projectile puked that up, so I mixed 1 oz with 5 oz of Similac Sensitive. She projectile puked that up.
Nova is 7 and a half months old.
SIL has two mspi kids and 1 on neocate 30mg of prevacid a day. She suggests we up the dosage of prevacid, then if that doesn't work try ellasure. Bf and I think it's behavioral (sp) for a couple reasons one, because she sleeps so good at night (12 solid hrs)
Help!
I'm going to shoot myself in my face! Any and all suggestions and theories welcome!

Bf wanted me to add to the part where she screams after she finishes a bottle, She stops as soon as we feed more food. (because we give her a bottle and then feed her oatmeal, rice, or baby foods.)

It sounds like she most definitely need more meds. That Prevacid dose will not do much for her. Also, it may not be the best med for her. Are you seeing a GI?

I agree--she may well need a 15 mg. dose of Prevacid.

When she's screaming after a bottle, it *might* be that she's comfort feeding. Some of our refluxers will constantly go after a bottle (or the breast if they're b'fed) because it soothes that burning sensation. This is what saved my dd--she was always nursing. It drove me nuts, but it was her only source of nutrition for a VERY long time.

While she may no longer be arching, etc. as much, she may still be in pain. Some refluxers will sleep all night (the one thing you have going for you, but still doesn't make up for all that daytime screaming!) despite the fact that their reflux isn't completely under control. I think Becky (Becky_in_NM) said that Daniel was a good sleeper even when his reflux was at it's worst.

Anyway, my dd was a constant screamer early on. It is horrible--you literally feel as if you're going to go insane and you feel as though you simply cannot hold that child for another second or you'll blow a fuse. I would talk with your GI about increasing the Prevacid and see if this helps her.

I agree with the others, I would try upping the Prevacid and if that does not work changer her to a more broken down formula like neocate or elacare.

She may be sleeping all night because she is so worn out from all her crying all day. It must be exhausting for her.

I love the picture! She is an absolute doll! I hope she gets over the crying soon so you can enjoy your days!
