From time to time, members want to share their email addresses. That is fine, but please take precautions when doing so. IRD is a VERY busy place, regardless of what the traffic seems to be on the boards, rest assured we get millions of 'hits' per month.
Some of those hits may be search engines for email addresses. Posting makes your email address public. It is FINE to share your email address, but in order to prevent problems, please do not make it a direct link.
You can give your email address and disable search engines by doing the following:
1. split up your information. ie: joan @ free_email_address .com
make a note to tell people to shove all the information together. ;)
2. inserting text. ie: joan(remove this text)@free_email_address.com
You can make a separate note to tell people to remove the text and brackets if they do not already know to do so.
Again, it is fine to share email addresses publically, but do take the above precautions.
