Kal gets a continuous night feed... he was getting pediasure enteral formula, but insurance wont cover it now... so now we are giving him regular pediasure, which has like 3 times as much sugar in it.He has been waking up in the middle of the night crying since we have been giving that to him (the past 3 nights). Any suggestions????? What kind of formula does everyone else use?

Oh, don't even get me started on the pediasure sugar thing. A couple of years ago, they changed their formula and added more sugar to make it more marketable. I'll save you the details, but they basically expanded their age group from 1-10 to 1-13 and reduced the fat content while keeping the calories per ounce the same. The only way they could have done this was to increase the sugar content.

Anyway, we started on pediasure. Much too hard on Allie's system, and rotted her teeth b/c all the sugar. Once she started on the tube, we tried Nutren, Jr. with fiber. We then switched to Peptamin Jr. with Prebio (fiber and probiotics). We really liked that the best. We recently switched to Peptamin 1.5 b/c Allie's weight is not doing so hot.

I think most of our tubers are on Peptamin Junior.

UGH...what's the deal w/ ins. companies?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I will tell you (*hush, hush*) that our GI sent us to WIC, b/c they'll cover it when it's medically necessary. We didn't qualify, but the women at the office helped me "get creative", and Ava's is fully covered. All they need is the rx from the doc. ;)

We started out on regular Pediasure and it was fine for awhile, but she slowly stopped tolerating it...within about 3 mos. They even had us try it in her J port, but that was just disastrous...WAY too much sugar!

We use Peptamen Jr. w/ Prebio, too...she's been on it for about a year and a half now, I think? It's a lot more broken down and easier to digest and has worked out really well for us.

We're on Neocate JR (was on regular neocate up until around when she was tube fed I believe)
We tried giving Lilly Pediasure once, she spent a couple of days puking....but my older DD LOVED it! LOL

Logan is on Elecare 30. But he is only 9 m/o so I dont know anything about Peptamin or Pediasure..He is just on an elemental formula- totally broken down and everything. It works awsome!
