Should I be concerned about this Lori?

Since Allie started school, she is pretty much chronically sick. And, along with that means increased reflux. Oh, joy, oh, joy.

Allie is on another cold right now. We have noticed that almost every single morning after she wakes up, she pukes up a bunch of phlegm. She only does this in the morning, and I'm guessing it's b/c she was laying down all night long and then when she is upright it comes up.

Should I be worried about this? I don't even know if this a "respiratory" question or not, but it seems like she is laying in her own phlegm at night and puking it up in the morning.

Anyway, thanks for your input. It is really gross, and the puking lasts for about 5 minutes. She coughs, chokes, and gags and then a ton of phlegm comes out. Once she's done, she's better, but man is it gross and I feel so sorry for her.

Thanks.

Ah man, that's not gross. Well, not the grossest I deal with anyway.:haha:

It sounds like she probably has lots of sinus drainage during the night. While she's laying down, it's draining down the back of her throat. Then, when she wakes up, she kinda chokes on it and starts hacking it up. You might ask your physician about recommending a Mucinex-like medication for her to help thin the drainage. That may help keep her from puking on it so much.

Thankfully it's clear - no infection. Keep an eye on it, though. If it starts to change, she may need abx.

Actually, it's green, so we got some abx last night. Yuck. I will ask about some mucinex like drugs.

Thanks Lori!!!

I still think it's gross though! :)
