OK, it's been...what, thee weeks? a month? since we took DD's bottles. She is drinking so little that her lips are craking, she's peeing only once a day, constipated. And she won't even touch milk. That was always our saving grace when she wouldn't eat. So do I give in and give her the bottle? I was told to take her off the bottle because she was 1) drinking to much milk and not needing food and 2) her teeth are so bad from the reflux that they fear the bottle will make them continue to deterierate (SP? wow). But I am watching her eat so little and now get dehydrated.

We are going to a new GI tomorrow. This one was recomended by a friend who's child was born at 24 weeks and has severe eating issue. I hope he has ideas we haven't heard or tried yet. I'll keep you posted

Oh Sue! I understand your frustration! You've given it such a good try! Will your daughter drink from a cup, a sippy cup or a plastic drinking box with a straw? It took us a long time to find a sippy cup that worked, but it was well worth it. I just taught Evan earlier this week to drink from the drinking box, too. He'll still only take his milk from the bottle. In my opinion, he's at least getting the milk that way and it's also the only "comfort thing" he has. There are many nutricious supplements that you could add to your daughter's bottle too, such as a calorie fortifier, protein powder and/or the drinks like Nutragin Junior.

Eating little comes with Evan's type of reflux, and abviously with your daughter's as well. I find that giving him a bit of watered down juice with his meal only helps to wash down the food so that he can eat a bit more.

I hope that things improve for you guys soon!

hi Sue,
Sorry that things are not going well. I have find out thast there is a no sippy cup that has a silcone tio that it is like a nipple. It is from NUK , maybe this will help your daughter get the comfort and still feel that she is having her bottle. Hope things go better at your Gi appointment.

I'd definitely try a variety of cups -- maybe you'll find one she likes. But I also believe that sometimes you have to what's necessary to get by, and if that's the bottle, oh well. Hopefully this new GI will be more understanding of your situation. It's tough to follow doctor's orders when they're so black and white.

I tend to agree with you Becky...for sure. You have to do what works!
