My daughter was born on July of 04. She begin spitting up in the nursery, the peditrician blamed me saying I should of breastfed. I felt guilty, and cried as they took her to the NICU. She stayed there for a week, they dignosed her with Lactose intolerence, and sent me home with lacto free enfimil. But again Baby Violet vomited. I felt helpless. My husbend wouldnt hold afraid of her spewing because of sudden movement, I never felt so alone. She spit up most of her feedings, and cried all night, she was again taken to the doctor, they said she had cohlic, and changed her formula to prosobee, saying she had a allergy to milk, somehow I knew I'd return.
I started reading up on the causes of spitting up and vomiting, i read about GERD. I knew that had to be it, but i wasnt a doctor so i couldnt do much within supervision of my pedi. Finally i took her back, she was weighing in very well, and was tall for her age, at month and a half, she was waking in the morning crying while stomach acid came out of her nose, it was horrible. They changed her formula again to Alumentum, for protein allergy, still she spat up, but this time it smelt nasty, everything smelled, i was crying feeling so sorry for her and wishing she was normal. She still gained and stil got taller, so i was thankful. Now at two mos. she was dignosed with GERD, finally i thought, well she was medicated, zantac and reglan, then a month went by with little weight gain so he changed to A.R. formula, and said if in three days she doesnt get better to call him and up her dosage in meds. i pray she does well.

Hi Scarlett and welcome!

I'm so glad that you were able to get a diagnosis while Violet is still so young. I wish that I had had internet access or a friend who knew about GERD/reflux earlier in the game. Things would probably have been quite different for my son, Evan. He wasn't diagnosed until he was 1 1/2 years old, and was only diagnosed at that point because I had switched doctors a couple of times and because I kept being persistent. If he had been diagnosed earlier, he probably wouldn't be so delayed. He lost 1 1/2 years of his development because he was always feeling to sick to do much.

I hope that the meds. and the new formula work out. Good luck!

Hey
thanks for replying, Im glad to say Violet is better. She doesnt spit up as often as before. today me and my husbend went to see relatives, they love violet, while there she spat up  for the first time, it was not a full once, but it irritated her neck and she fussed a little. I suspect she has gas because at night she cries often before bed. Or maybe shes just tired, How do i post a picture of violet and me, like you did?

If you e-mail it to Roni, the site administrator, she can put it up for you. I'm not exactly sure, but I think that you can upload one if you have your own web space with it. You can't just do it from your hard drive, though.
