Naynay'smom

Hi!
My name is Rebecca and I have 3 boys, Keller (5), Daniel (2) and my littlest Nathan (Nay-nay) is 8 mos. He was diagnosed with reflux in the hospital as he started gagging and choking. They did a barium swallow, upper GI xray. you could see it plainly on the xray the barium coming back up.
Saying that, I think Nay-nay is certainly one of the milder cases. He was put on prevacid 15mg right away and has been on that since birth (minus a week when another Dr in my Drs practice took him off it and put him on Zantac).
Since he has been exposed to more foods his screaming, finger thrusting, drooling, waking at night, back arching, neck flexing has all gotten worse. So I am here to learn what I can do to help him. He is such a sweet happy baby, even when he is hurting. He will scream and when I look at him (to pick him up) he gives me a sweet smile as if to say, "I'm not mad at you momma, I'm just hurting."
He has had chronic ear infections and has tubes in his ears (he got those at 6 mos). I just learned that could also be a sign of reflux. I am a little peeved at myself for not researching this like I usually do. I think I was overwhelmed at first, and since the Dr said her kid has reflux and prevacid fixed it, I just went along with it. That is unlike me, I generally research things to death and drive her crazy. The dr also said that he would grow out of it by about 7 mos! Instead it has gotten worse. I have an appt to see her about this on Thursday.
My next assignment is to research the difference between reflux and GERD. Of course I have to do this between school, gymnastics class, potty training and feeding the crew, and all the other chores mom's have daily. It may take me a while.
Thanks for listening and I hope to learn a lot from you all.
Rebecca
