Our story started two year's ago with her big sister having reflux. She outgrew it at 10 months. We thought that it was a fluk and that couldn't happen again. Boy, we were wrong! Anna has it much worse. Alyssa was a spitter Anna is a silent refluxer. I thought at birth that something was wrong but we were in denial. At 4 weeks our worst fears were realized when Anna had an Upper GI. She refluxed three times within a few seconds. We had a diagnosis and the realization the next couple of months are going to be interesting. That was two weeks ago and it has been tolerable. The hardest part is we have 4 older children. They are for the most part tolerate of her crying, but there are times when they want to run out of the house screaming. The other difficulty is that we are in the car getting the older two to there dance classes and I worry that being in the carseat for so long makes the reflux worse. She takes prilosec that seems to being helping. Anna's story continue's while lack of sleep and children needing Mommy I will carry on after all they so young and need you above all. As my husband pointed at this weekend she has "separation anxiety" and I am the only one she wants. He is right! I smell milky!! :D (She is breastfed.)

Hi again! Did any of your other children ever have reflux or, looking back, did they show any of the symptoms, even if they were never diagnosed?

My oldest was a happy spitter. You couldn't take her in the car for a half an hour after she ate or she would spit-up. She never had pain but did have a lot of ear infections until she got tubes after that no problems. The 2nd and 3rd in line have dairy intoleraces but no refux problems. The 4th child had acid refux until she was 10 months and outgrew it. She was diagnosed at three weeks and was put on Zantac. She would projectile vomit and spit-up some. The youngest has it the worse. She is a silent refluxer and does that a lot. I think I would be afraid to know exactly how much she refluxes a day. She was in a lot pain until we got her on Prilosec. She is sill in pain but we are able to help by keeping her upright and try to keep her calm.
