Hello...My name is Ruth..and my 5 mo old daughter Callie was diagnosed with GERD at 2 mos..... She also was diagnosed with NEC 4 days after she was born....most of the colitis has resolved....and now she is just dealing with the reflux...she didn't tolerate an NG tube..and she seems to enjoy eating...especially now with Prilosec and Zantac on board...but she still throws up an awful lot...UCLA wanted to do a fundo plication procedure with a G-tube at 3 mos......but we are holding off.......I would love any info from any parents whose child has had that procedure..and how they are doing...I keep reading so much mixed information......Thanks!

Hello and welcome!
My son's case of reflux is moderate and has been controlled with minimal meds so far so I don't have any experience or info. on fundo, but there are some parents here who will be able to provide you with the info. you're looking for...just wanted to say hello and look forward to getting to know you better :)

Hi Stacy: Thanks so much for the greeting...we are just using meds right now as well...along with polyvisol vitamins.....YUCK... *LOL* but Callie seems to be gaining a little weight....so we'll keep going for now without the surgery...I have heard of so many complications with it... Hope you're having a good day.. Ruth :o)

Hi there Ruth and welcome!

My son, Evan, has reflux. He takes Losec (Prilosec in the States) and Domperidone, as well as some (natural) glyconutrients. I'm glad to hear that you're looking at all other possibilities for Callie before considering the fundo. You'll find lots of fundo. info. from parents who have experienced the surgery with their child(ren). There's even one parent who is very please with her child's fundo.

Hi there Janette:
Thanks so much for the welcome.. I am just so terrified about the fundo....and G tube as well... I have read about so many complications with it......I just have a bad feeling..Callie enjoys eating and so far she is 11lbs 4 ozs at 5 months...as long as she gains a little bit each visit we buy more time away from UCLA........I just wish she didn't throw up so much.. Reglan didn't work for her..made her very sleepy and irritable..and it didn't stop the vomiting.. at least with the Prilosec and Zantac she isn't in pain. Hope you and your family are enjoying your weekend.
Ruth

Hi and welcome!

I would try not to worry too much about the fundo at this point. Your daughter doesn't seem to fit any of the criteria for needing a fundo...I don't think there is a surgeon on the planet that would do a fundo on her at this point.

Are you nursing? If not, what formula is she on? Have you tried different formulas in the past few months? Very often finding the right formula (or altering your diet if B/F) can make a huge difference in the baby's reflux.

Look forward to getting to know you and Callie!
