Hi! My name is Darshani and I am on a couple other reflux boards, so maybe I'll see some familiar faces!
My dd Nitara (6 mo) has been struggling with GERD since birth, although it went undiagnosed for 3 mos. Landed her in the hospital where she was dx with GERD, Sandifer's Syndrome, FTT, and at the time had high bp due to pain and dehydration.
She's doing a LOT better now that she's on Prilosec. No longer in pain, thank goodness, and that acid diaper rash finally left her bum last month. We are struggling with a feeding aversion she's had pretty much since birth. Takes an average of 2.5 oz. per feeding by mouth. She's had an NG tube for the last 3 mos. that's helped her to not have FTT anymore, she's back up to 50th percentile for weight/height!
We are thinking that she needs the gtube at this point because the NG is causing a lot of trauma to keep placing. I do it myself and it just kills me-- and her. The Ped GI is probably going to schedule her surgery soon and she'll get a Bard button. Dh and I are torn about this because we know it comes with risks of making reflux worse, but it will hopefully make her oral defensiveness and trauma better. We are not opting for the fundo at this time.
Also, she just had a motility/reflux barium study done 2 days back. I couldn't see any reflux on the monitor which is unusual for her. However her stomach only looked about 1/2 empty after 90 min. and they only put 3.5 oz. down. Still waiting for doctor to give her interpreation of the test.
Nice to meet you!
