Hello again!
Christopher is much more "active" since i last wrote, which is a bit harder since he wants to eat and play, but the Dr. insists that he not be real active for at least 45 min after he eats. Well, he throws up anywhere from 5 to 60+ minutes after he eats regardless, so i just keep plenty of burp cloths handy! He is such a sweetheart, once i figure out how-to, i will post a photo! He is growing so fast before my eyes, his Dr. is pleased with his increasing weight, and doesn't want to change his meds(Reglan, Prevacid, Maalox) until at least he goes without a single symptom for 2 mos. That seems reasonable to me, although no hope for the near future- we haven't made it 2 hours yet!
I was really scared at first about the medication- especially the Reglan, with its many side affects- but I wouldn't change a thing. We still have our bad days, but i just get on this site, read other comments, and feel better.
The other reason i'm writing is to ask how you all have approached the 1st B'Day cake?Christopher wont be 1 until January 9th, but i'm usually the worst procrastinator! Will I be making an Alimentum B-Day cake?...yummy!
Well, looking forward to any ideas! thanks, Vonnie

I'm glad to hear that Christopher is doing so well, Vonnie. One of our local grocery story does a free Birthday cake for baby's first birthday, so that's what we did. I really don't know of any cakes that would have been reflux-friendly enough for him at age one. We found that chocolate was the worst. A boughten coffee cake (my in-laws always have them around) was what worked the best for him at that age and still does. They can be with cinnamon or with fruit. You could stick a candle in it. You could also do a regular birthday cake with something else for Christopher.

Thanks for the update! Glad to hear the meds are helping!

Mmmmm, the Alimentum cake sounds tempting.....
We do vanilla cakes for Shae's birthday every year. She doesn't eat them but has fun playing with the frosting, we always do vanilla ice cream as well. Chocolate is a no-no for refluxers so if you think he will eat any amount of the cake I would stay clear of chocolate.

Please keep us posted on his continued progress.
