Trent is 14 months old now and still can only tolerate purees.
I have him on Stage 2 baby food (Beechnut 1st advantage, because it has more calories than the other).

He was finally starting to tolerate more thicker purees, but in the last week or so he has started gagging on them again. I have had to go back to adding juice to them and thinning them to a soup-like consistency. I am soooo tired of buying jarred baby food. Even if I puree our table food, it is still too course and textured for him and he gags to the point of throwing up. I just feel like he is going to be on baby food forever. I can't even move up to the stage 3, because of the lumps.

Does anyone else have a child over the age of 1 that can still only eat pureed baby food???

Your story about feeding sounds all to similar to what we have been through with Evan, Amy!

I too could never puree foods for him like I did with my first son. I got so sick and tired of having to buy the canned stuff, and felt certain that the cashiers thought I was a terrible mother for doing it. I thought we'd never get past the purees, but we finally moved on to the toddler jars (puree with a few chunks of pasta and vegetables.) We'd finally be doing well with the canned toddler food and Evan's reflux would kick up so badly that he'd soon be only on apple sauce, and sometimes down to liquids only.

Evan is now 26 months old. After he turned 2, he (himself, believe it or not!!!) decided that he was through with the canned foods. He wanted the real food like we were eating, and absolutely refused to eat any more boughten jars of food. He actually began to eat better (with less gagging and vomiting) on the table food at that point, than he had been doing on the toddler foods. It was slow going at first, but he's finally at a point that I feel that he's actually getting close to enough to eat.

We still feed him a minimum of five meals/snacks per day, though, and I still have a few jars of toddler entrees in the cupboard just in case...

Anyway, Evan didn't get past the purees until he was probably about 18 months old, and would always regress whenever he was sick. Trent sounds like he's doing exactly what Evan did at that age. By the sounds of it, he's headed in the right direction and before you know it, I bet he'll be wanting to eat your food all of the time too.
