My son is 5 weeks old and he is constantly crying everyday mostly during daytime. Before I offer my breast he squirms a lot for minutes finally giving in.During feedings he turns red and grunts a lot to the effect of biting my nipples. When he's done feeding (10 minutes -the most which is 20 minutes rarely) he still makes this grunting noise as if he's clearing his throat, arches a lot and just cry!He always have hiccups too.Yesterday he only slept for 12 hours the rest of the day was for wailing,fidgeting...oh and yes he spits up a lot and i mean a lot! Even after 3 hours of feeding,he will spit still. Please help,my doctor said this ain't reflux but I'm having doubts and thinking of finding another doctor.Thank you so much! :(

Hi!
It does sound a lot like the reflux that many of us here on the boards are experiencing with their children. You're on the right track; I would definitely look for a second opinion from another doctor!
Good luck and please let us know what the new doctor says!

Thanks! It's been nice to finally be able to get some visiting and some gardening done. Too bad it has been such a rainy long week-end, though. I was hoping to finish the flowerbeds and to get the garden in, but everything is too wet now. We were hoping to head out your way to the zoo today, too, but not in the cold rain.

Sure sounds like reflux to me. That is exactly what Trent would do when I would breasfeed him. Trent grunted all the time. It was almost like he was straining to have a bowel movement, but he wasn't. He grunted so much in the hospital that they did an Oxygen intake test on him to make sure he was not having trouble breathing. I would definitely take him to a Pediatric GI. We never could get any answers from the regular peds. The pediatric GI diagnosed it immediately. We videotaped Trent grunting and arching and turning red in the face and took that in as well.

 Oh my gosh, Roni! I just realized that you really DID chose to use "Old Veteran"! I guess that's a bit better than "Old Fart", right?
I'd stake money on that being reflux!! Try to get another ped. Is he on any meds for it?
