And they found nothing. I'm feeling like I shouldn't have put her thru it. We go back next Wednesday to go over the biopsy results but was told that they would have called me at work if they found something.

Has anyone else scoped their child and they found nothing and wondered why they bothered? Is this a common occurence? I know she is on top dose of prevacid and was naturally looking for an answer, and I'm left open ended still :( .

We questioned why we bothered putting Evan through the upper GI and the CAT scan. Regarding the upper GI, he didn't vomit during the procedure. He waited until we got back to the waiting room...Frustrating!

I think it's pretty common for us all to wonder why we do anything if we've made the right choices with our kids, and I think that we will probably always do that, it's so hard to know what is the best decision to make for them. We just have to accept that we are doing the best we can. Even the scope showed nothing, (congrats by the way!) I think it was worth doing, any time you have someone with chronic reflux for a long period of time you really should be doing scopes every so often to make sure the meds are working the way they should. It's so important to keep the esophagus in good shape to prevent Barrett's.

Shae's most recent scope a few weeks ago also showed no damage thankfully...she was having other procedures while she was under though so we just threw the scope in to take advantage of the fact that she was asleep since she hadn't had a scope in three years.

Evan is 2 years old and has never had a scope done. How often do you think it needs doing, Roni? (Just curious, so that I can get after the ped. at our appointment later this month if necessary...)

I don't know that I would be that worried about it Janette, as long as he has been on a PPI all along and isn't showing too many signs of frequent pain. If he ever goes under again for any reason I would try to get a scope scheduled though.

He's scheduled to go under for an MRI in late September, but it's in another city. I think it'll probably be too hard to contact the right people in the right part of the hospital to have it done. The doctor in charge there has nothing to do with the reflux anyway.

I would just talk to your GI, if he thinks he should have one then ask him to schedule it through the other hospital. Our hospital is four hours away and Shae was having an MRI and they were still able to coordinate a scope at the same time. Just tell the receptionist at the neuro's office and they should be willing to help.
