because of reglan my kid can at least move alimentum along at a faster rate than on his own. and of course the slow gastric emptying makes him feel full longer and before i knew he even had the issue he was literally sleeping for really long stretches and not eating much and so it was a fight just to keep his weight from declining.
i never ever wanna go back to that feeling and i was wondering if it is something that will constantly loom over our heads? i keep forgetting to ask the doc because usually i am so anxious about addressing his immediate pain.
I think it's something you will have to just wait and see about. I've heard of kids who had been diagnosed with DGE at one point and then a year or so later have no DGE present though so I think anything is possible.

Hi, I completely agree with Roni. There are many little ones who outgrow this and some who do not. My husband still has troubles - if he doesnt take cirtucel twice a day, he cant go. This followed him from infancy. I dont think he's the "norm" but you cant tell, you have to take things day by day.

Patty,
As an infant, Evan would sleep through the night and, therefore, not gain enough weight. We used to (LITERALLY!) have to make him do baby sit-ups (and this during the first few months of his life!) just to wake him to feed during the night. As an encouragement, he eventually did outgrow the sleeping through when he was hungry and learned to wake and let us know.

Patty,
When I first saw the GI specialist Athony was 16 months old and he told me by three they usually outgrow it. He has gotten a little better but not much, he is off reglan.
I also had the problem of him sleeping sometimes 12-14 hours a night and not gaining weight. I was never told to wake him but since his first GI appt, 11 months ago, he has put on a little weight.
