I just wanted to mention the OT that Trent works with. I'm not going to release her whole name due to her privacy, but if anyone needs it, they can email me.
A few months ago I was online checking out different message boards on reflux and came across the St. Joseph's feeding clinic in NJ message boards for parents. I read the comments, and everyone kept mentioning an OT named Lynn Murphy that works at St. Jo's.
I emailed Lynn, and told her Trent's story and also that I could not go all the way to NJ since I live in GA. I asked her for a name of someone near by. She gave me the email of a lady named Nancy who was retired from St. Jo's and used to be Lynn's supervisor.
I emailed Nancy right away. She lives in Savannah, about 3 hours from me. We emailed back and forth several times and she gave me the advice she could without actually seeing Trent. I was wanting her to work with him to try to overcome his oral defensiveness.
One evening she sent me an email inviting me and Trent to come and stay with her in her home overnight so that she could work with him privately. I was sceptical to go at first and stay in someone's home I had never even met, but finally decided to go.
She was great!!. She was the nicest person I had ever met. She used different techniques with Trent to get him to start opening his mouth for food. We had him eating more than he ever had within a few hours. She also worked with Trent and had him rolling over within 1 our which he had never done before.
It was just really a great experience, and I ended up with a really good friend that I can email anytime for advice and tips.
I just wanted to share that story to show that there are some good ones out there!
