Hi everyone,
John is pretty much refusing almost all liquids the last couple of days but he does seem to be wanting to increase his solids a little. I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for high calorie/nutritious foods I can feed him. He has 'lumpy' issues so I can only feed him smooth foods. He seems to like yogurt so he gets 2 of those a day and I am able to feed him some jarred cereal too. Are there any other foods you can think of that you can think of? Ice cream makes him puke so thats out... :(
Thank you for any and all help.

I would start by stirring butter, margarine or oil into your son's food. You could also look into a calorie boosting powder, such as Nestle's Caloreen. If he doesn't react to milk, you could also try adding Half and Half cream to his bottles. You would need to start out with just a bit and gradually increase the amount.

Ah! One of my favorite subjects! My boy would eat smooth oatmeal so I used to make it with heavy cream. I got lots of weight on him but I made the mistake of over-using it and his cholesterol level went to over 300! OOPS! So I started reading and experimenting with more nutritious calorie boosters. Here we go
First, theres a product called Benecalorie that you can read about at www.novartis.com. Its a creamy liquid without taste so you can mix it into most anything. it comes in 1.5 ounce cups - each cup is 330 calories! I mix it into yogurt so a 4 oz Yobaby yogurt becomes 450 calories!! You can order it online from walgreens but if you contact the company they'll send you a free sample.
I add extra virgin olive oil to all the jarred baby foods (and use "First Advantage" baby foods - they're high in calories). And the EV Olive oil is good for you, it helps lower bad cholesterol and boost good cholesterol. I'd add 1 tbsp to each jar of food for an extra 120 calories each.
Then theres "Special Pudding". I make instant pudding with 1 and 2/3 cups of regular milk, 2/3 cup of powdered milk and 4 tbsp of olive oil. It comes out pretty good, Adam always liked it and its about 325 calories in 4 oz.
All his milk was doubled, I added powdered milk to regular milk. Extra calories (not too many) but the extra protein was good for him.
I hope this helps! Bon appetite!

Thanx so mucuh Phyllis! You have given me a ton of good ideas! Thank you!!
Do you still do the oatmeal\heavy cream thing or did you stop that all together?
Thank you again very much! I really appreciate the reply.

I agree with everything Phyllis says. The oatmeal and heavy cream does work well. I've never had Trent's cholesterol checked, guess I better
I also make his oatmeal sometimes with Vanilla Pediasure.
The olive oil does good too.
