Hi lori
me again, I was just wondering whats your thoughts on ventolin syrup, miki is having a hard time keeping her airways open and this has been sugested in the past, but was woried cause it goes through the GI tract KWIM
Do you find it afective more or les then the nebs
thanks
Amy, I can't really say that it is more effective than the nebs. Generally, it is given in combination with the nebs. It is more for maintenance than immediate relief, KWIM? Perhaps in Miki's case, it would be of benefit, but I need to look into it more in regards to absorption from the J rather than the stomach. So, my educated answer...I don't know. Maybe you could talk it over with your resp specialist - he's pretty aware of all of Miki's issues and could best recommend the albuterol syrup.
thanks lori
I have an apointment today at 2.35 but i just wanted to check with you first, I know it wil likely be brought up at the apointment as it has been before KWIM
All her meds go into he J we dont use her G for anything but venting and draining as its compleely use less
thanks gain
Good luck at the appointment. Albuterol syrup may be beneficial for Miki. I'm just not sure if she will absorb the medication through the jejunum the same as she would if G fed. I suspect there wouldn't be a big difference, but the rate of Miki's elimination may need to be addressed when figuring dosage intervals. It may not be an issue, but I would ask just in case. Let me know how the appt goes. I'm anxious for an update.
just got home taking a difernt aproach, her lungs are totaly clear wich is great, but the noise is coming from the airways as we know already, Any way he sent her for a thraot and nose air way xray to see if there is obstuction from the tonsils or adernoids, there is no more room to move interms or the operation on her airways as she has had that done twice but, it could be as simple as her adernoids being to big
wait and see for resluts now i gues
thanks for your help lory
oh with the ventolin syrup likely not absorb it cause of her dodgy GI tract and also not a good drug for her due to the fact wil make her hypo and also tachicardic to we wil stick with the nebs
Ah, that's what I was afraid of. Maybe the tonsils and adenoids are the answer. I hate to think of Miki going through another surgery, though. Thanks for the update.
