Hi

I am Jean, Roni's Mom and Shae-Lynne's Grammy. I had never even heard of infant reflux until Shae-Lynne was born. Now it has been my life for the past four years. Thought I should pop on this chat line in case there are other grandmothers that need to share their feelings. I feel Ron's pain, I feel Shae-Lynne's pain and I want to do anything and everything I can to help.

Best wishes to all of you.

Hi Jean! Thanks for joining us. I only wish that I could convince my parents to go online. My mother so much needs to hear that there is another grandmother out there who feels the pain of her daughter and of her refluxing grandchild. It will be so interesting to hear the grandmother's thoughts and feelings about all of this.

Hi Janette
Thanks for the welcome. Have you passed our book onto your mother? Simply reading it and knowing she is not alone in her feelings may help. Even if she does not want to join chat line....you can encourage her to e-mail me personally.
Best wishes.

Sorry Jean and Roni, I haven't even had the chance to consider getting the book and reading it myself yet. Life has just been too busy and hectic to even have time to sit down and read at this point.

Regarding Mom e-mailing you, unfortunately she isn't even planning on going on-line at this point. I will have to mention the book to her though.

It's ok Janette..., my mother can be a little pushy sometimes.

Please behave Ma...not everyone in the world has bought it, or will buy it.

Hi Janette.

Sorry, I just assumed. I know what you mean...you have to be relaxed and in the mood to read. Focusing on sick kids just doesn't put you in the mood to relax and read....but there will be a time when you will want to. Keep positive...that day will come.

I didn't go on-line for a long, long, time. Roni kept pushing me and finally when we decided to do the book - I had not choice, I had to!!!! Although I am an office manager I feel completely illiterate when in comes to computers and Roni, my help line, gets many, many calls - how do I do this?

Maybe if your Mom is at your house someday you can show her how awesome the computer is. Roni, Shae and I web cam and I thank God that she pushed me to go on line so that I can see Shae-Lynne by way of the cam.

Best wishes.

Jean,

It's kind of funny, but Mom's already interested in trying out our computer to speak with "the other grandmother", especially when I told her that you're going through a lot of what she is: suffering through your daughter's pain and also that of your grandchild. Heck, she's even talking about trying going on-line at the public library once I've taught her enough here. In one day you've already worked a little miracle, as I've been after her for ages to get on the net.

Thanks again for joining us, Jean!. Who knows, Roni,...you might soon have a grandparents network going here too!

Hello Jean! Its nice to see you here! I cant wait to teach my Mom how to use the computer. She's in another state so next visit there, I plan to sit with her and how her that the computer isnt some complicated monster!

Anyway, welcome again. "Grammys" are just indispensable! I dont know what I'd do without my Mom!

Hi Phyllis

Thanks for the welcome. But,,,,I think computers are complicated monsters LOL. I have to call Roni all the time to tell me what to do next!

I really know what your Mom is going through though being far away from her grandchild. I won't guilt Roni though b/c she calls all the time...I call all the time and I think I know everytime Shae has laughed, thrown up, as a matter of fact Shae calls me now to tell me stories! I thank God she has kept me so involved.

So stay close to your Ma.....she needs to hear all.

Best wishes.

Hi Jean!
I just wanted to let you know I received the brochures you sent today. I am going to post them everywhere I'm able to post my flyers for the support group I have.
I have already posted one of the brochures at my son's doctor office (he had a check up today) and I also posted one at the Winn Dixie Pharmacy here where I get Trent's meds.
We're so glad to have you!

Amy

Hi Amy:

Thanks for the welcome. Glad you got the brochures....very time consuming printing, folding, stamping, etc. so happy that someone appreciates my efforts!

I had tried to leave some with the pharmacy dept at drugs stores...some people are so nice and others well "they need permission from some higher up!" Sigh!

I have not read many posts - I am always too busy trying to get the word out about how serious reflux can be in infants. But I will catch up soon.

If you need more - just e-mail me.

Best wishes to you.

HI Jean,
Just wanted to say Hi and tell you that my sister-in-law lives in E. Taunton. Near a mall I think?...I've only been to her house once. I'm from MA but closer to Boston, but I have friends and relatives all over the state and spend a lot of time up there.
Anyway, welcome and I also think Grandmother's are great. After I had Maeve, we moved even closer to my mom(she was 15 min. away, now she's 5!)

Hi Megan:

Thanks for the welcome.

Wow, what a small world. I live EXACTLY one mile from the SilverCity Galleria Mall!!!!!

Maybe we'll get to meet some day and have fun shopping.

If your Mom wants to vent or just share feelings - let her know I am here.

Best Wishes to you.
