Hi there :D
Ny name is Stacy and I have a 10 yr old stepson named Dylan, a 4 year old daughter named Alexandrya and a newborn son (3 months old) named Branden. Branden has been displaying signs of reflux since he was 3 weeks old and I look forward to any suggestions, support and advice I might get while on this site. Thanks...

Hi Stacy and welcome! You've come to the right place for suggestions, support and advice. The parents here are amazing. I'm from Canada, too. What province are you from?

Hi Janette, nice to meet you. I'm from Ontario Canada as well. I live in the city of Welland which is very close to Niagara Falls. I'm really hoping this site is gonna help me out, I need all the help I can get right now

This is a great place to ask questions, Stacy.

Regarding Welland, the last time I was there, I was pregnant with my oldest child, Brandon, and he's 4 1/2 already now. We hope to get back there to visit the locks with our boys this summer, though.

:D I was surprised to hear that you had been in Welland, was it to visit with family or an event of some kind? Where do you reside in Ontario? My son's name is Branden as well lol. I have been on this site most of the day looking for answers, I posted a topic entitled car accident...chiropractor...helllp under the "Is it reflux?" heading and am looking forward to some suggestions/advice. Another question I have is do infants with this condition sleep fairly well at night?? Branden is a restless sleeper for sure and still gets up at least twice for a feeding, but nights up with him are almost a blessing since he usually eats and goes right back to sleep. It's his days that are unbearable with him crying 90% of his awake time. I'm so confused...

Hi Stacy! and welcome! Adam (who is 3 now) never had much trouble at night either. He always woke up for a sip of milk or when he got older a sip of water but then would go right back to sleep. Adam has silent reflux, so he also never had many of the classic symptoms. My advice would be to persist with your docs. They are not very knowledgeable on the subject of reflux and how much of an impact it can have on a little one. keep us posted!

Hi Stacy and welcome!!

Most refluxers are pretty poor sleepers and parents complain of nights being the worst. Having said that, all kids are different and luckily for me, most of the time Shae slept very well through the night. Don't get me wrong, we've been up many times in the past four year,s all night long, cleaning puke and listening to her whimpering in pain but for the most part her nights, like your son's, are good, thank goodness.

Again, welcome and I hope you find everything you are looking for here!

Hi Stacy! You have definately come to the rite place..you'll find it to be exactly what you were looking for .I have an 11 week old lil girl who has reflux. She also has silence reflux and is on medication but getting her to eat is still the most stressful time of the day .. ...nights are the best..now that is a few weeks ago she wouldn't sleep more then 1 hour at a time but now she seems to be sleeping longer..and the night before last she slept thru the whole night!!! ..Last night it took awhile to get her down but she slept until 4 am !!! She seems to do very well when she has a bottle at night ..she will take almost 3 ounces..thats alot for her( we're lucky if we get 2 into her ever 3 hours)and then she
ll go rite back to sleep. Most nights we leave her in the swing because she needs to have her head up after every feeding ..keeping her up is key to her comfort ,that..and she doesn't sleep unless she's in it  or on me and I'm trying to break her of sleeping with us.Well take care and hang in there Stacy .I hope we'll be hearing more from you .

Hi Stacy,

We were just in Welland to see the canal. Please check your PM for more of the answers to the questions you asked. I left a message there yesterday.

Thanks Janette, got your pm...
Just wanted to let everyone know that I've just added a website to my profile which is dedicated to Branden (and my other kids too). I'm really proud of it so check it out if you like. Just remember one thing...the smiles you see on Branden's face in some of the pics are all taken at those rare instances when Branden's finally had enough to eat and sleep (for the time being anyways). The smiles don't come too often so I try to catch as many as I can....usually right after I've snapped the picture, the crying begins
Thanks all

Such cute pictures, Stacy!
To me, (I'm not a doctor), little Branden sounds as though he has reflux. Trent had silent reflux the first 3 months, at which time it turned into active reflux with vomiting. He sometimes vomits up to 6 times a day. When he was a newborn, he never wanted to eat. He would only sleep in his carseat. He would never let us lay him down flat. When I would try to feed him, he would arch his back and cry. He would get really stiff and I would have to literally try to bend him to burp him. He was always generally uncomfortable and the only place he was happy in was a vibrating bouncer seat. I bought every bottle and nipple on the market and quit breastfeeding b/c I thought that was the reason he didn't like to drink a bottle. It took a while before we convinced the doctor to order an upper GI which showed the reflux. Until that point, they would never dx him with reflux due to the fact he was not spitting up. He does so much better on his Prevacid now. Reglan worked pretty good for a while as well. Hopefully you will be able to find the med combo that works good for him. He looks very healthy in his pictures!
