My 3 year old boy started the day program at St Joseph's 2 weeks ago. He has had more progress there in these 2 weeks than we've had with GI docs and Speech and OT therapists in the past 18 months! He was opening his mouth very little, blocking the spoon with his tongue and it was taking 90 minutes three times a day to get a minimum amount of calories in him. Now he opens his mouth like a hungry bird and is finally learning lateral movement with his tongue. He no longer seems like he would rather starve than eat!! The staff at the center are just miracle workers and they deal with many, many reflux kids.
They are St Josephs Center for Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing Disorders in Paterson, New Jersey. Website is www.feedingcenter.org
Thanks for sharing Phyllis! It's wonderful to see someone so happy with the care their child is getting and to see a child make so much progress so fast!
Welcome to the boards!

My daughter goes to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nasville TN. I love it there. Everyone is so great. My daughter has a main doctor, a speech therapist, a nutritionist, a GI Specialist, and 4 interns.

My son has been going to St. Joes in Paterson NJ since late December and we have seen such wonderful results. Prior to going there we had seen numerous GIs, gone for feeding therapy locally, and had started with early intervention. Before St. Joes he wouldn't open his mouth for food and barely took in enough calories - now his weight has been increasing, he is taking in table purees, and feeding time is down to 30 minutes for each meal. Of course, we have had setbacks but they are great there and work with you to keep moving forward. I would highly recommend for anyone with a child with reflux/feeding aversion to look into St. Joes.
PS: My son Josh is 26 months and now weighs 24 lbs 7 oz! Yeah!!

Thanks for the heads up. I live in New Jersey too and my daughter is having a rough time with the feeding therapist that comes to the house. I had another therapist tell me not to go to St. Josephs. They were no good and that they paint a pretty picture but never do anything about it. Maybe I should reconsider.
