I was a day off. The GI apt was today and not yesterday. Oooops!

Well anyway, So far they are following the same stuff they did with dd. He told me to take ds off of the previcid because it is not working. He also said that that previcid and prilosec were so close a drug that he didn't think I wouldn't see a different result.

They want to scope him to see if there are any allergies and to see if gerd has started. I am so on the fence with this. He is mirroring dd to a T and these tests did nothing but cost money and my worry. Putting him under is very scarey to me as it was with my dd.

But on the other hand if we don't and these tests would have cought any problem I would feel so bad.

I have a message into a holistic doc. Any thoughts? Has anyone been that rought. I have talked to a few people whe say that a chinese cured their child. ds was not born as early as dd because a holistic doc and her bag a trick. (had the same thing with ds as with dd).

Roni you are so wright when you say there needs to be more research on this issue. Again I am feeling like my dd and ds are guinnee (sp?)pigs.

Oh my goodness, is there any way to find a new GI? I can't believe that he would take a refluxer as severe as Patrick off his PPI! Whether it is helping his symptoms or not he needs to have something to guard against damage. And don't listen to him about the Prilosec and Prevacid...just because one doesn't work, doesn't mean the other won't!!!! Make him switch you. They told me this exact thing about Shae with her formula...she was on Vivonex and I wanted to switch to Neocate b/c she was puking every hour...they told me that they were so similar that there really wasn't any point....YA RIGHT! Within twenty minutes of switching her we saw a difference. The drugs might be similar but they are not exactly the same!!!!

As far as holistic healers are concerned, I am on the fence on this one. Having gone that route with Shae also (out of sheer desperation) the only we did was spend an extra $50 or $60 dollars a week, maybe more can't remember and never saw results. With the exception of maybe a little extra weight gain. I've had people email me before about chiropractors curing their kids, and that well may be the case but I've not seen those results in my child. I think that everyone is different and if you have the extra money and the desire to try it then it might be something to consider.

And the tests....I have sworn over and over that if I had another refluxer that went through what Shae did I wouldn't put them through even half the tests that Shae had done...although if actually in that situation I don't know how I would react...it's a hard call. I think that if he is acting exactly the same way that your dd did then maybe just hold off for now....try to treat him the same way that you did with dd and just hope for the best. Watch him closely though and if he starts to exhibit any symptoms that are unlike your dd had then maybe do the tests...I don't know...just thinking out loud. The best thing to do is express your concerns with the doctor...tell him what you have told us, that putting your dd through them all was basically for nothing b/c you didn't really get any solutions from the tests and that you would rather not put ds through that right now. The GI is a person too (although sometimes you have to wonder... ) and perhaps has children of his own, appeal to that.

You are so right about the cost of holistic. I spent over 900$$ buying myself 3 or 4 weeks. The best $900 I ever spent.

Well I do have a more to talk about but my dh is really no help tonight and the baby is really complaining. Grrrr
